TIL that Noobcrew, the original creator of Skyblock, has been fighting for trademark rights for nearly four years, with mainly the Bedrock Marketplace on the opposing side.
About a month ago, he wrote a long and detailed post explaining what was happening:
This was in response to a YouTuber picking up his story.
Personally, I'm sympathetic to Noobcrew. Some of the Bedrock Marketplace creators are not only directly copying his creation, but also creating the impression that they are the original creators. Meanwhile Microsoft, which directly profits from this, is backing them, not just legally but also by virtue of their management of the Bedrock Marketplace. Noobcrew also has ambitions to create a standalone indie game at some point using the Skyblock name, which is understandable, especially given that he continues to build on the concept via skyblock.net and its associated servers.
