long story short, i spent a long time building and making my ideal village in minecraft but my computer had to be factory reset. is there any way to get the world back from the cloud or something and if so, how?
Unfortunately, a lot of people seem to think that their worlds are somehow stored online (in their account) but with the exception of skins your data is all local, and the vast majority of people also never give a second thought to backing up any important data, as if their computer will never fail (everything fails, often without warning. There is a saying that data doesn't exist unless you have at least two copies, on two separate devices/locations).
This is also why I'm always highly critical of suggestions to fix issues with the game by reinstalling it, especially given that the launcher itself verifies all the game files and redownloads any that are "corrupt" every time you launch the game (exception: modded versions/mods, which must make special changes in order to prevent the launcher from overwriting them). Often you only need to delete options.txt, or the issue is a corrupt save (certain corruptions can cause the game to crash when you go into the singleplayer menu) or resource pack (deleting options.txt will deselect it), otherwise, the issue is likely due to a bad graphics driver or other software that conflicts with the game. If files are actually becoming corrupt than you have a serious issue with your computer (RAM/disk) and I'd expect that you'd be having far more issues than with a game which represents less than 1% of all files on an average computer, most of which are not subject to regular file verification.

Not unless you had the world backed up online or a Realms server.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
