This is quite self-explanatory - I've mined more than one million ores so far this year:
This is a chart of my "session stats" for every day that I've played this year, all on a single world; 284 out of a total of 306 sessions were spent caving, with most of the other sessions during the early-game, as well as the occasional session spent on building a new secondary base and railway extension back to my main base (the semi-periodic dips after the first couple weeks). Most of the ores I mined outside of caving were mined in the Nether (quartz and gold), which is also when I averaged the most XP per day, with the peak day being when I defeated the Ender Dragon; during the first few days I branch-mined for necessary resources (after I start caving I entirely sustain myself on what I find while caving; one exception is when I returned to the Nether to get more XP for enchanting a new pickaxe (around day 37) with a special enchantment I found while caving; the second time I just used surplus XP from caving as I already had all the enchantments I needed):
Here are more charts that go into more detail, as well as more in-game statistics; I've also mined a total of more than 1.4 million blocks and placed nearly a third of a million torches:
This table only includes "caving" sessions, and includes what I did over a 4 month period the last time I played on my first world (World1); the main difference is that my sessions were longer, otherwise there is surprisingly little impact from more and larger caves, with similar ore distribution (emerald is a notable exception, with the range extended up to sea level with similar per-layer density, there is also a "volcanic wasteland" biome with 50% more ores, of which I explored two), and my use of a "vein miner" enchantment that mines up to 8 ores at a time; the hourly rate for ores is only 2.6% higher in TMCWv5 and when including rails, cobwebs, and moss stone I average 3.5% more in World1:
Several zoom-ins of ores (all ores, uncommon ores only, rare ores only):
I've only used an amethyst pickaxe while caving; I used diamond pickaxes when branch-mining and in the Nether, and iron pickaxes (not shown) when working on secondary bases and railways (most of these are taken from chests in mineshafts):
The actual number of torches present in the world was about 315,000 (I use a custom version of MCMap which counts the number of torches it finds when rendering caves), and represents an average of about 1,100 per play session spent caving (the number used when branch-mining, in rail tunnels, bases, and securing villages is insignificant enough to be discounted):
For perspective, this is what I did the last time I played, and the total ores mined at the end of the session; 8 in-game days passed between the 1 million screenshot and then, representing an average of 328 ores mined per in-game day and 984 per hour (3 in-game days without sleeping)
As incredible as this seems, I've been doing this for nearly as long as I've been playing Minecraft, more than 9 1/2 years, as I first mentioned back in 2014, shortly after I added my "session stats" mod which tracks ores mined, mob kills, XP, etc within the current session, if not necessarily actually mining this much every year due time spent on spent on developing mods, or in a single world due to playing on more than one world:
I mine more than three thousand ores per play session, per day. Multiply that by the number of days in a year and you get well over a million ore mined per year, which is very likely accurate for at least the past year, since 1.6 came out with the block of coal...
To help visualize how much caving I've done this year, these are surface and underground renderings of my current world, the last two of which cover a 3728x3024 block area with 28,594 chunks (based on chunks remaining after using MMAT to delete all chunks more than 1 chunk from a torch), representing an average exploration rate of about 100 chunks per play session spent caving and an average of 35 ores mined and 11 torches placed per chunk. I only explore the world while caving with the exception of locating/exploring a stronghold to get to the End so this also represents how quickly I cover ground from any exploring; it would take about 164 days for me to fully explore a level 4 map (2048x2048 blocks or 16,384 chunks):

Layer 46:
While I do not play on newer versions, and thus they do not affect me, mods can be seen as updates and I spend more time playing per day on modded worlds than I do on my first world, if not that much longer (about 11% more for TMCWv5, which has had the longest sessions of any world, with World1, my only "vanilla" world, being close to the long-term average; another notable thing about my gameplay is how consistent it is in session length, rarely do I go outside of 3-4 hours; my all-time record session, based on ores mined, was 5.8 hours long). All the caving that I do is also done for fun; resources are essentially a byproduct which just happens to meet my needs and I branch-mine to get what I need at the start of a new world, partly because it is more efficient and safer but also because I want to save caving/exploring until the "end-game".
The end has finally arrived; this is likely the last post I will ever make anywhere online, and nobody is going to miss me, that's for sure (no, don't claim otherwise, you know it) even on Reddit all I get is this; it is clear that nobody could care less about the original spirit of the game (why was it even called "Mine"craft? Nobody knows. I guess that 1.18 was really so bad that nobody wants to talk about it), or is interested at all in what I do (aside from "what is ruby", as if my mentioning of mods and screenshots/maps of a clearly non-vanilla world weren't clear enough); even Reddit is utterly dead in terms of discussion value despite having thousands of active users at any given time (then again, why did this get so much attention? A single screenshot of a double chest of resources with no other context than "178 hours of playtime", as opposed to all the data I provide so you can actually see how how much I explored and played). Not to mention that titles of these posts were intended to spark discussion.

Wait! Github has a great modding community. You should create a respitory* for TMCW.
AND I AM NOT letting this forum turn into a ghost town!
Look, The reason I haven't talked as much as I want to, Is because I don't wanna be that annoying noob. And I'm sorry if you have suffered because of that.
I enjoy reading all of your posts, I just thought it would be a rude thing to post on everything thread you have created.
You mentioned that You want more audience for your mod, have You considered pitching your mod to some youtuber*?
No matter how much of my rambilling* you listen to. at least listen to this: It does NOT have to end this way.

This is the same issue with any fandom online. People don't really care for anything in-depth unless it's spoonfed and simplified.
Even I stopped caring to analyze games in the last few years and just game casually as a hobby.
It's a symptom of the internet changing overall for the worse.
I'm sorry man.

I can recommend you try a forum dedicated to modding, older version of minecraft, and the similar.
Planetminecraft.net is a texture and artistic mod place but perhaps they will like a change of pace from you.
Discord This discord server has a number of former and current server owners for old versions of the game. Why not talk to some of them?

This has little to nothing to do with modding/mod discussion (the only way mods are even relevant to the topic is that I was playing on a modded world but I play on vanilla in the exact same way, and take care to mention any possible impacts of using mods), and the last thing I want is more publicity (I feel quite threatened by the suggestion that they might release their own "fork" of TMCW, all spiced up to support multiplayer, shaders, etc - without ever asking me for permission and basically just exploiting my own work to their own benefit (they said that they don't plan to release it, but still...; the main reason they seem to like TMCW is because of how lightweight it is for the content it provides, but that is mainly because it is based on 1.6, not because of anything I've done, and even then many of my optimizations and bug fixes were taken from bug reports (not to say that I haven't made any of my own), and being a non-modloader based mod you'd sure have a hard time adding any additional content without directly modifying it, which itself would be harder than vanilla due to none of my extensive comments and inlining/compiler optimizations and decompilation issues (MCP has to patch various classes to fix decompilation errors, one reason why it does not support decompiling modified jars as it can't apply patches if the code is not what it expects).
Also, Discord? The very thing that destroyed these forums and most other online communities (you have to register to even view Discord, accept invites to private communities, and nothing on it is ever indexed by search engines, making it far harder to actually find anything (for the same reason I dislike using private messages for general help/discussion) - at least some others have seen the issues with it. No doubt this also contributes to spam; "please join my Discord server - link!", else, how will anybody ever find it? The same is also true of Reddit; I see people saying they are reposting something for like the 3rd time because the previous attempts were ignored (most people probably just browse "hot", the default and where the most upvoted/commented on posts show up, even "new" isn't of much use when there are lots of new posts coming in, and not many people are going to scroll down, with a few posts visible at once. This also makes it completely impractical to maintain any sort of long-running threads, e.g. Survival world journals, and they have nowhere near the capability to make comments like the forums do (inline images, spoilers, code, etc), thus you just have a bunch of completely disjointed posts containing an image or two and/or a sentence or two).
TMC, I ultimately don't have the patience for long reads or long installs. I understand you and scant other people do and I applaud and respect you for standing against the wave. I myself don't plan to change. Filtering info and grabbing only the main ideas is how I deal with info overload online.
Also well - I see you're back, so I'm not sure whether to welcome you or point out you went back on your word slightly.

I've always enjoyed your posts.
And feel that I've learned a lot from your explanations of how the game works.
I hope you continue to get enjoyment out of playing the game at least.
Just testing.
