Many people are saying that the new chat reporting feature in 1.19.1 will ruin Minecraft. This convinces me that the game will die out on Tuesday and pretty much everyone will stop playing. This makes me not motivated to create Minecraft content anymore due to the possibility of nobody enjoying it, and it makes me very depressed with the thought of my favorite game dying out. Can anyone try to convince me otherwise?
I don't think a almost 12 year old game can just die out so easily, I mean, it haves a fanbase of 141 million people so I don't think it can just die out because of an stupid update lol, I mean, it died out in 2014 but revived very fast soooo

The game is actually 13 years old. Also, doesn't this kind of backlash over an update happen a lot? A developer releases a highly controversial update, people lash out and say the game is dying/ruined, and then things eventually cool down and life goes on; is that a normal course of events that happens a lot?

Absolutely. Take a look at the triple-A or mobile gaming markets. Whenever an update that adds more microtransactions or silly mechanics is released, people are immediately up in arms about it. After a few weeks/months though, things will die down and the game's community will continue on at a relatively normal fashion. I'm not saying that people like those updates after a certain period of time, it's just that they get more "used to it" and become tired of protesting against the game developer after a while (especially if they don't revert any of the changes made). Unfortunately, this is how most bad updates eventually "stick" and are not improved upon.

The game died out in 2014? That's news to me, same for claims of a massive revival in 2019 because of a certain YouTuber (in fact, both years had about the same number of sales).
Year Total sales
2011 4 million
2012 9 million
2013 33 million
2014 54 million
2015 72 million
2016 100 million
2017 122 million
2018 154 million
2019 176 million
2020 200 million
This new reporting feature isn't going to kill the minecraft game, it's just adding some accountability to it. I remember when minecraft first launched, it really wasn't a kids game during alpha or beta stage it was mostly an older teen and adult game until it got an educational game version and moved to consoles outside of a PC. Now it's a mixed range game of young kids, teens and adults playing it so yeah this report feature was bound to happen eventually.
From everything posted so far to use this reporting tool you have to navigate to the social menu and select the message in question to report it and the player in a specific category. Then a moderator team reviews it and decides what type of infraction to levy on the player for that message. If people are using profane/insulting language offensively to attack people then that's their own fault. I doubt that soft curse words will get you banned from minecraft but if people are using stronger profanity words or outright insulting people or being a bully or a bigot then they deserve to be held accountable for their actions.
Lo and behold it's June 29 and I spent hours on it today with my friends. You can also just say anything bannable on other mediums than the in game chat.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
