There was a time when those who had purchased MC were offered the Win10/bedrock addition for free, so the idea that MS/Mj might attempt to induce java players to transition to BR is not without precident.

Buy Minecraft for Windows: get Minecraft:Java Edition!
Because you own Minecraft:Java Edition,
you'll get Minecraft for Windows as a bonus!
might be read as indicationg both versions will be included with the purchase of either.
Did you find anything useful behind the "See Details" link?

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
Interesting, looks like they are running this promotion again. It went away for a while. But the more details link just says this:
Let's be totally clear, we intend to give you both games for one price in 2022! If you still want to buy either game, of course just press the "buy" button - and if you own one already, then we will be giving you the other as a bonus! However, if you just want to play games without owning them, you could subscribe to PC Game Pass and get access to both today!
So it looks like they will be giving away Windows Bedrock edition again for Java owners. But to answer OP's question, that is only for Windows, MAC users will continue to have to use Java edition, I don't think the windows version will work on a MAC without some kind of Windows emulator and performance on that might be minimal.
It also looks like they really want to push game pass, again, only on Windows, I don't think that's available on MAC, I don't know. I also think they really want to push bedrock edition over Java edition as much as possible, it must really rub Microsoft the wrong way to own something that actively promotes another company's product. But with the huge installed base of Java editions that not only includes PC but MAC and Linux users, along with the absolutely huge amount of mods on Java that aren't on bedrock and never will be, they won't drop Java edition none too soon, at least one hopes that is the case.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
People have different opinions about "what really they give out ?",
however I would still respect the official info I quoted above
and keep an eye on that
Isn't the version in the Windows 10/11 store Bedrock? I got that one for free on Windows 10 when it first came out.
having said that I have not found anything worthwhile about that version, or even about the newer "launcher" for Java edition. So, after a short test I completely abandoned bedrock.
Personally I very much like using mods to remove the more boring / grindy aspects of Minecraft, I know that the old launcher is well supported by Fabric and Forge, and I have been too lazy to test whether bedrock or the new launcher support mods well... so I just stuck with the old and trusted.
I took advantage of the promo on 3 accounts back I think, in 2018. Mainly cause Bedrock support for VR (Oculus) was much better integrated than using Vivecraft on Java.
If they are resuming the promo, it feels a bit alarming. Would not be surprised if this is the beginning of a plan to phase Java version out entirely...
Personally, I'm indifferent about this; I don't even play newer versions of Java (where "newer" includes versions that are over 8 years old), or even know what the migration cape looks like as the version I play no longer has online skin support (I suppose I could add support for a cape that is placed in a resource pack, much as you can do to change the default skin, but I don't care enough to bother).
To receive the free Minecraft for Windows (or Minecraft: Java Edition if you own the Minecraft for Windows instead), go to the Xbox app (if you don't have it, just download it) then login with your Microsoft account that have either Minecraft: Java Edition or Minecraft for Windows, then type "Minecraft PC Bundle". If the bundle is available, you can press the "Get" button and there you go. Don't forget it's coming at Summer 2022, roughly June or July.
Looks like it isn't available yet, the notice still says "summer 2022", I'm sure when the offer does become available, there will be a notice on the launcher screen. You'll probably have to make or link an xbox account or use your Microsoft account and claim it that way. That's how it was done last time they offered it.

Yes, it's legit. I actually tried it out, and... I mean, it was novel to play Bedrock addition, and try all the 'bedrock exclusive' things... but honestly, the novelty wore off pretty quick. (I was mesmerized by movable tile entities... but that was about it.) On the other hand, if you normally play bedrock, I definitely recommend trying out Java modding if you've got the time and energy.
Confirm it is! You can get bedrock edition from java, or get java from bedrock! I got java from bedrock, indeed a really nice gift to the fans and owners, for example my opinion is that bedrock isnt the best, and java is a classic and more nostalgic to me, and has much servers and community than bedrock edition.
I saw this in my Minecraft Launcher and am wondering if it is legit, if so how do I claim it. I have a Mac.

According to the following official info from minecraft.net :
https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/4607523809933-Buy-Minecraft-PC-Bundle-Get-Both-Games-
"existing owners of either game will be granted an entitlement to download both games on one Microsoft account"
but... they are not saying about the current time!
rather the Summer 2022 (Northern Hemisphere's summer)
and notice also the ending sentence:
"More details, including the exact timing of this offer, will become available as we get closer to release!"
(the page updated: 2022-03-13 00:24:33 UTC)
For anyone interested -
there is a long thread on Reddit about that:
I'm confused, does that mean that i will get Bedrock Edition for free if i already own Java Edition ?

Mehrcraft, same as me:
the old launcher (or alternatives) + game versions older than 1.18 + good mods = happy player
Same as for me idk if its real or fake

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
I think it is legitimate!
We do not use Windows at home, so I have only ever really had access to the Java Edition.

Mods are a lot of fun though, and I have Bedrock on my mobile phone anyway!

real or fake? i don't know
why is this cat on my signature?
I guess so it is, not sure though, it says it is coming in summer so you just wait and see.
Does anyone know how i claim minecraft bedrock?
maybe a small tutorial it would help
