For all of you who think Terraria is a ripoff of Minecraft. It is not. I play Minecraft and Terraria and they are both good games. Terraria is not a ripoff of Minecraft. Maybe only 4%. Terraria has way more bosses and loot and difficulty than Minecraft. Minecraft focuses more on farming, mining, and creating, while Terraria mainly focus on collecting, fighting, and progressing. They are both good and different.
This topic keeps coming up years and years after both games have been released and I don't really think I've ever seen someone who actually thinks Terraria is a ripoff of Minecraft or vice versa. I see way more threads like this saying that they aren't ripping each other off, which is correct but I have no idea who is saying otherwise.

they are similar games, yes. But, by that definition all FPS games are rip-offs of each other. Maybe terraria took inspiration from Minecraft. Maybe they only made terraria because of the popularity of Minecraft. But, It's a unique game that has never been made before. No other game before terraria has had the same style of gameplay - no, not even Minecraft. They are two completely different games. IF you get bored of Minecraft, terraria is still a fun game and vise versa. And so, I don't see it as a rip-off even if it was heavily inspired by Minecraft.

I doubt that. It reminds me of very old games with simular mechanics.
Terraria is way more flashed out than those in general becouse it's newer.
Terraria could have been a game for the NES, SNES and other dust covered relicts.
No, i don't think it's a bad game. I like it bc it feels nostalgic.

My projects:
-are abandoned for now. I might pick 'em up in the future.
For now i'm working on a private modpack that suit's my own playstyle.
I am gonna stay in modded 1.12.2 untill my potato dies. No mercy! :Q
No, it's not a rip off- the trouble is that Minecraft sort of created the genre of block based sandbox games. While Terraria certainly takes some inspiration from Minecraft, it's a game in its own right. (I'm partial to Starbound, incidentally. It's fairly similar.)
