As the title sayed, what are your opinions about it ?
I realy loved the big bioms.
Since the release of them i've never played without them because it buggers me when i build a biom based build but see other bioms (even if they are very similar).
Now that we have even more bioms i don't think that i'm going to spend as much time on the overworld but way more in the underground.
Still wishing for a "old world gen" option but with all the new features
Could be just nostalgia but i realy enjoyed the alpha/beta days when the world was just "empty" nowadays everthing already looks so pretty and i don't feel like changing much at the terrain. Not a big bioms problem tho.
All I can think is, why are they removing more and more easy world customization? Not everybody wants to or can use/create a data pack, if it is even possible to change biome size. If I had my way 1.8 would have let you customize virtually everything; in fact, I tried making a mod that would do just that (check out all the options for caves) but it was never finished due to issues with MCP, and I made accommodations for Large Biomes in my own world generator in TMCW (the biome generator itself only requires changing the number of "zoom" levels while certain features like beaches require some changes to heightmaps and palm tree frequency to keep them generating as desired, and special biome features like Oasis in Desert M and Rocky Mountains peaks always remain the same size). Likewise, I would have delayed 1.13 until world customization worked again (which would take no time with a competent development team as I've looked at some of the obfuscated code and could see that all the relevant variables were simply hardcoded in with the same default values as before).
That said, since 1.7 Large Biomes has been pointless because biomes are already effectively already as large due to the "temperature" system which is part of the reason why I've never updated to 1.7+ and never will as my own modded versions are far superior, especially since I have full control over them (including far more than just world generation). Even then, with the exception of a couple early worlds I've never used Large Biomes; even in my first world I literally went 4 years without finding a single village because much of the time was spent on exploring a "snowy" climate zone (yes, even 1.6.4 has climate zones, in the form of 1000x1000 - 2000x2000 block areas of Ice Plains and Taiga - and Large Biomes would make them 16 times larger in area - an 8000x8000 block area would be twice the explored area of my first world). The exceptions were a "Survival Island" type world and a modded world which reused the seed for my first world (this was before I knew of AMIDST) with spawn relocated to the intersection of Extreme Hills/Plains/Desert outside of an area I explored in my first world, as I knew that the underground would be the same aside from modifications to caves.
