I'm playing 1.12.2, just because there are so many mods that will not work with anything newer. So, one of the mods I'm using Survival Utilities, adds a number of things I like. But it also introduces two blocks I hate: Footprint blocks, in both Dirt and Sand flavors. Any time I walk around on Dirt or Sand, look, it's not dirt or sand anymore! Now it's dirt or sand with footprints! Wanna carve a chunk out of that Dirt block with Chisels & Bits? NO CAN DO! It has been changed to Dirt with Footprints, and until it reverts back to normal Dirt, you can't do any of the things with it that you could do with normal Dirt! We have maliciously broken two of the most common blocks in the game: YOU'RE WELCOME!
So... how do I disable those blocks? How do I alter things so that blocks with footprints are never ever created? Could there be, like, an over-mod that lets you go through all the blocks in the game and turn some of them off? Help!

Best case, if the footprint blocks are 100% their own mod, try just removing the footprint mod (or whatever it's called) from your .minecraft/mods/ folder.

I would check the config file and see if there's an option to disable those features. I see you already asked on the curse forge page so you might get an answer there if there's an option in the config or not.
Can you just dig up the footprint block and put down a normal block in the meantime?

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.

Digging up the blocks is not a solution at all. I would have to dig up and replace every single block of dirt or sand every single time I walked over them.
However, you were right about the config file. From within game, there is no way to change any configurations. But out of game, the .cfg file can be modified so that S:isFootprintsEnabled=false.
That does the trick. Thanks. No more pesky footprints!

I already told you they're not. Survival Utilities. It adds a number of nice things, actually; I told you that, too.
