I have a lot of zombies literally spawning (not going through portal etc) in nether. How is it possible? No mods, no nothing.
Version: currectly 1.16.3, this part of nether was generated probably in 1.12, zombies are spawning just in this area (or I didn't noticed them on any different location)
(This is old from nether, scroll down for zombies somehow on mushroom biome)
This is a long-standing bug (since the snapshots for 1.6) where any zombie variant will spawn regular zombies as reinforcements, instead of the correct type:
(as is often the case, I find it unexplainable why this bug even still exists, I fixed it myself long ago by setting the zombie variant to the one that spawned the reinforcement; I didn't modify the zombie pigman class but if I did I'd add a method that returns the mob to spawn, much as slimes and magma cubes do, which like zombies share the same base class - that's all Mojang needs to do to fix this 7+ year old bug)
Well, I got another problem... lots of zombies and only zombies spawned in the middle of mushroom biome.... Never saw it before, and I live in this island for long time. What's wrong now?

Unless you are watching them pop into existence, my guess is you have a zombie spawner that is close enough to the surface that the zombies are able to figure out a way to get to you (they are epic smartbois).

I was also thinking about it, but why would they go out after a long time I live there - Like half of year... I didn't took any unexpected way, I went by the exact path multiple times. (even a lot closer while building those rails etc) (idk if it has to do anything with it, but I had minecraft in the background not active for pretty long time, when I switched back to minecraft, it was kinda loading in - right after that, there were those zombies. (I counted more than 15 zombies)
Once again, this time, I was just at my base - heard zombie dying, looked up to my roof made of glass, saw Rotten flesh on it, with lot's of zombies too last picture is seed of the world, coords are -270 64 4311 (inside my base, where I was all the time - I was just waiting for stack and about 15 of ancient debree to "cook" in furnace.
Also, because I had to switch my computer today, I have copy of the world right before I started "cooking" that. They spawned night or two after being just AFK in my base smelting ancient debris.

MC-14800 When zombie villagers, husks, drowned or zombified piglins are damaged, they spawn regular zombie reinforcements

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
