its some absolute . i was in the desert looking for a zombie (for shulkercrafts 3 villager iron farm) and was nearly done and the sun was coming up. it was a server with teleporting to and from homes. got the zombie in the composter and it was nearly done and i needed to go home to get the hoppers and lava. went near the river and pulled up the tp command and s creeper started hissing behind me and I didnt think id have enough time to finish the command so pressed esc and went forward and lost nearly all my health bar. (my netherite boots had frost walker so i took them off and my elytra was on) unfortunately i misclicked the q button and dropped MY NETHERITE GOD SWORD I SPENT WEEKS MAKING. the creeper exploded and it disappeared. it was an absolute nightmare and think that the only way to dispose netherite tools is either despawn or cacti, why the hell wouldnt it be? man sorry just needed a place to vent
I did this so many times before it finally occurred to me to change the keybinding for "drop item" to the "P" key. I chose that one because it's unlikely that I'll ever hit it on accident.
This is what I also did. After accidentally throwing and losing the very first diamond pickaxe I ever created to the insidious lava corner glitch that existed in older versions, I immediately remapped the drop key to the 'P' key. That is one of the first things I check any time I am starting a new Minecraft game.
