I've been trying for a while to find a way to convert Wii U Minecraft worlds to Java (I think it might be possible with MC Tool Chest). Me and my friend's first Minecraft world was on the Wii U and I really want to surprise him by converting it to Java and putting it on our server. I was able to copy the Minecraft save data from the Wii U to a USB drive but every time I plugged it into my computer it would say I needed to re-format the drive (which would delete all data from it).
the Wii-U and Java version are very different from eachother, so it probably isn't possible to port it. If it is possible, than the world will lose a lot of stuff and will not be the same as it is on your wii-u. If you do manage to port it, it will probably corrupt or lose certain things like items and structures.

In theory it should be possible to convert Wii U save files to Java
The fact MC Tool chest exists shows it can be done, I was able to use this to translate a Java version world over to bedrock edition, the conversion was flawed, but it was almost a perfect copy. If Mojang wanted to they could implement a feature that lets files be converted from console to PC.
they did this with the Xbox One edition, Xbox 360 worlds could be converted successfully to work with Xbox One edition,
Xbox One worlds could then be converted to work with bedrock edition (also on PC/Windows 10), and the only noticeable changes were the world sizes.
I think the problem the OP was having was more to do with the USB drive not being in a format that could be read on Windows if formatted on Wii U.
