Bastions are only small parts of a castle, like a wall turret or something. Bastion Remnants make it sound like it is only a small bit of a wall or something, they should be renamed.
Bastions
Remnants are not Bastions!! Name them Fortification Remnants or Fortress! I know we have Nether Fortresses but really they're a Nether Wall Maze! Minecraft should fix their names, who agrees? If you don't, google Bastion Definition.
No, the use of Bastion is actually correct. Bastions are just towers, specifically a short and squat design that was developed as a direct response to the blackpowder cannon. Being a tower, this means they can be built freestanding and in fact towers were used specifically in this way for things like laying claim to an area or offering low-key levels of protection Sometimes they were used politically to destabilize a rival's hold on the edge of his territory, if the locals then flipped to your side you could send more resources to beef up your presence there should the rival desire retribution.
Bastions are a defensive part of a wall or turret. The bastion is too big to be a small fortification or bastion. Even so, fortification would be a better term, as fortifications could be of any size, and also, fortify land.
Or a defended piece of land. The bastion itself is not the structure but the land.
There are more definitions but they have nothing to do with this.
Even if you are correct, fortification would still be a better term.

I did do that as well.
