Hello, I’m still a fairly new mine craft player, I’ve built a house, a few pens with animals in and starting a storage building as been collecting lots and lots of materials to start on the next phase of things, but....
I’ve been exploring a lot, hence why after a couple of weeks, mining, exploring caves, trying to find a village and getting lost a lot. I finally found a village the only problem it’s about 2000 blocks from where I spawned in and made camp, there was animals, long grass, trees and water, seemed a good place to start.
So the question is do I stay where I am and maybe make a really long tunnel or railway to the village or should I take my most valuable items and make a new camp near ish to the village, I’m pretty sure it’s the only one close by just 2000 blocks is a long way.
I would make a second camp at the village and build a railroad back to your original base.
The railroad will only be 1/8 as long if you build it in a tunnel in the Nether, up under the netherrack roof is the usual place.
(250 blocks isn't all that far, my mining tunnels are often longer than that.)
If you move to the village it would be nice to have a quick and easy way to get back in case you die and your bed is broken so you respawn back at the original. (Though there is a command to change the world spawn and move the spawn chunks. /setworldspawn <X Y Z>
Also, if you like your original base otherwise you can move villagers there (by minecart for instance) or cure some zombie villagers to start a new village there.
I recommend making a tunnel in the nether and making a portal at the village and at your first camp. Travelling in the nether lets you travel farther than in the Overworld. 1 block in the nether is 8 blocks in the Overworld if I remember correctly. If you don't want to do anything in the nether, you can just make a railway from your camp to the village. You're going to need a lot of iron and gold though to make the rails.

Or just place portal wherever you like near the village, a new one will appear in the nether so use direction to find your way back to the 1st portal in the nether and make a path between them
Recommend making your camp near the village at least 128 blocks away from the village so you don't encourage mobs to spawn in the village at night if you're awake after dark.
When you're in the nether kill some blazes, make blaze powder from blaze rods, combine powder with ender pearls and make a couple ender chests to easily xport your stuff between house and camp.
Linking the two places up with nether portals is a great idea. You don't sound too excited about that prospect yet, though, so I'm in the "camp" of putting down a home-away-from-home camp near the village. In my worlds, I like to set up multiple bases (as if I were building out an entire nation dotted with cities) and connect them with roads and railways.
If you're looking to travel those 2000 blocks faster without going to the nether or necessarily building infrastructure, you could also think about getting a horse. They can be a little frustrating, especially when there isn't a nice, flat, even road for them to run on, but at least they could get you moving faster. You can even equip donkeys with saddlebags, so you can carry more when you make the trip and not have to make a return journey to get more materials from your base quite as often.
One final suggestion. If you want to see if you can find a village that's a little closer to home, you could use a village finder online (like this one). You just input your world's seed, and it'll show a grid highlighting where all the villages are.
I'm surprised no one suggested to get an Elytra... smh.
New to the game. Just found your first village. Building a "Nether hub" shouldn't be on your priority list. It's good that you already know about that though. At 2 000 blocks I would probably try to find another, closer village. Unless it's really that good but even then.
It all depend on how much you already build and how committed you are to your firs location. Depending on the terrain. 2 000 blocks is quite a trek but it can be manageable for a short while.
If you choose to "keep that village". Just do some "path management" here and there on every trek. Don't try to make a highway in one shot.
Start by making a small base camp. You don't have to go all in right away.
You'll probably want to move from your first location sooner than later so. Keep exploring.
Thanks for the reply, ive managed to tunnel to the village although I think it may not be good but did find a couple of others surrounding it and managed to screenshot too.
Ive been playing about a month or more and this is the first world I've stuck with, ive gone into the nether, as nedded nether crystals for a redstone auto farm i was trying from wattles youtube, followed it but didn't work, possibly the new update or ive missed something.
Want to try and move on as getting a little bored but know next to nothing about the game.
Ive managed a tunnel, i tried an overground rail but i got annoyed as kept falling off when trying to build it haha
Do you know about sneaking?
When sneaking, shift as default, you don't fall off of blocks, unless you get pushed or hit by an arrow, but you need to stop sneaking to go up or down.

If you have any questions ask away!
Yes, 1 block in the nether is 8 blocks in the overworld. So if you preferred, you could have a vast network of rail systems in the nether to take you to different outposts equipped with nether portals, while decorating them using stone bricks, as the buildings just being netherrack would be an eyesore. lol

Just testing.
I’ve not ventured into the nether yet, been trying to get used to the game, been going around in peaceful mode

Will the second portal show in the nether? Never been in the nether so don’t know how it works

This is good advice. See videos like the one below for specifics on how to line up the portals.

I dont know much about the game, so trying to learn but there is so much to learn, how young kids can be good at it blows my mind.
Well this is ultimately a building game. Get resource networks such as villages, forests, and mines together than build what you want to build.

You can use the Pewdiepie's technic. He transported villagers with boats lol. "GET IN THE BOAT!!"
Where I get excellent maps and addons: mcpedl.org. I don't know any other websites lol.
