Well for me beta 1.2_02 has a place in my heart as it was the first version i played! though my favourite is 1.7.10 as it has a huge modding library and its before the combat update and some more contrivercial versions
For me it's a tough one, I actually really got into modded around 1.10.2, even though I've played the game since 1.4.5, and used mods around the same time but none that went further than my later experiences.
I do enjoy 1.13+ Vanilla features that are quality of life and the odd blocks that I use a lot (Blast Furnace & Smoker) sure but otherwise I don't have much else to say as mob AI or QOL wise I don't have reasons to care for which I jump back to out of re-experiencing or experiencing versions before those I started like 1.2.5.
On the Vanilla release version side 1.4 and 1.5 I'd say (I rarely use enough for the newer versions from 1.6 to 1.12.2), so I'd have to say either 1.4 or 1.5 if Vanilla but modded it would be 1.10. I can't say for older as I do use them but don't think have enough knowledge on them. Like Villages I don't visit often, or Jungles, Iron Golems and other things the game does commonly in alphas/betas. I've tried a few from that time and they are great but just not something I can stick with due to experiencing the game so much later than then.
