I don't know why you think that isn't good. You took outside idea and made something your own, and I quite like it.
Can you post another, if it's not too much trouble, with the head turned partway to show the hair you're describing better? Possibly, also, with it looking up or down? I think mine is just 2D and this doesn't always line up when not look straight, but I get the feeling it could look awkward at times (like when looking up or down). The extra layer was a recent addition after I finished mine. I think part of the front of the hair and the belt might be another layer (maybe the sleeves too) but the rest is just the base and nothing fancy.
Not at my PC now, and I'll have limited time over the next two days, but I'll try to get the sideshots by Monday.
As for "not good", I meant that it's not "flashy" like you get with some other custom skins. Relatively speaking, it's straighforward and simple, with some additional flair with the hair to give it a sense of uniqueness or individuality from what it could've been otherwise.
Ok, here's the updated sideshots. As you can see, while it's a bit awkward looking down, the hair actually hinges when looking up so it doesn't clip through the body.
The only downside is that, at least on my copy of More Player Models is that the transparency doesn't work properly on the hair, resulting in basically a giant flap attached to the back of the head if you're doing any kind of custom fading or design. It also only goes up to 1.13.2, so if you're playing a more current build...
