Unfortunately, the only way to -truely- fix this issue, is to know the seed before the corruption, so that a new map can be generated with proper terrain, and the buildings from the corrupted map superimposed over that.

But, just like backing up the save, people rarely have a need or reason to know the seed # before a problem comes up. I don't even know what my own world seeds are.

You can try to smooth it out manually or with MCEdit, or export the buildings and import them into a proper map that matches the seed.

Hey guys,

So I was playing my server's save in singleplayer (no internet until today), and of course, did tons of work, Minecraft crashed, and now the save doesn't even show up in the saves list. Just gone.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could get it registering again! Don't want to lose the huge rail system I built :S

My friends world disappeared from his game after force quitting. After backing it up we attempted to do the rename thing where you rename it corrupt and rename the .dat_old to just level.dat but that didn't work. So I guess it's corrupted? Not sure. If you can help at all that would be lovely.

He's on a mac by the way.

Well, this is what I get for setting hellworld to true and enable nether to false... teehee

It shows up fine on MCEdit, but when you're playing it's just crazy. (It looks like it did with the 1.6.3 (chunks not loading at all, minus the one you log in on)...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :smile.gif:

The sole (apparent) problem is that a small chest contains a now-invalid item; the balloon from an airship mod. This chest also contains most everything of value I own, so being unable to access it is a huge problem, particularly now that I want to make a map and other new things. If you could remove this item, I'd very much appreciate it.

I hope you can help. My SMP world corrupted yet again. My worlds seem to corrupt every 6 weeks or so and each time we start a new world hoping this will be the last. It always seems to corrupt near spawn and this is the 5th time our world has corrupted. I just wish we knew what it was so it doesn't happen again.

Anyways, my son left for work for a few months and gave me instructions on how to stop/start the server. And that is about all I know, I'm far from tech savvy (even got lost reading your thread). But I will do my best.

The server has been acting odd for the past week, I just took it as plugins acting up. So today, the big crash happened.
I was able to get on for a few minutes and noticed one of our towers had duped in spawn. Also, just a few blocks over I saw a chunk missing coords 11646 -6505 (close to this). I also noticed severe lag and the server panel was scrolling errors so much I couldn't read it. I left spawn and the scrolling/lag stopped. I went back to spawn and the scrolling/lag resumed.

I began to walk around and found inverted chunks at these coords 11904 -7387 yet my server panel was not scrolling and no lag.

I did notice my son left a backup on his desktop from May 5th. At least I hope its this servers backup.

I do hope you can help, I am just so tired of re-building spawn town.

I would like to have this save fixed: gervenor.zip
It's a save file from my Single Player Game. It was working perfectly wiith Beta 1.5_01 but it started crashing game with the 1.6.4 update. It's crashing for me at loading save file.

Gervenor: Did you have any mods installed prior to going to 1.6.4? I'm thinking some mod item might be causing the problems.

Uhh.. Holy crap.

That may be part of the problem right there. I've fixed over 300 maps and I've never seen one over 150mb.

I suppose you could upload them in 150mb chunks and I can reassemble them on this end and maybe trim it down some.

Our worlds have always been this big - meaning it has always taken aprox 5-6hrs to backup. So regions I take it are chunks explored?

My save apparently became corrupted last night due to a power surge that turned the computer off abruptly. I was browsing the web while my minecraft character idled in my skeleton trap collection point and BOOM, power went out for a moment. When I tried to launch the game this morning my save does not even show up in the list available saves in Minecraft. I tried swapping the level.dat_old with the main one (which is named level.dat.broke in the zip file) but it still did not appear in the loading list.
