I'm having quite a bit of trouble building a working iron farm in 1.14.3. I've made many iron farms before this update, but now I just can't figure it out. Can anyone help me?
yes, the villagers (a minimum of 3) need to be scared by a zombie (which causes villagers gossip) but at the same time have slept and worked recently. also try and have the golems moved away as fast as possible as the villagers check every 10 seconds to see if there is one in the nearby area and can spawn one in after 30 seconds of spawning a golem in.
sorry if this is confusing a bit. i can go into further detail if you need

Thank you very very much. This is way more information than I've found all day.
Do you have any idea if there's a maximum amount of blocks between the villagers and the spawning area/platform?
And how far away the golems need to be for another one to spawn?
the pack of 3 Villagers need to be 10 or more blocks away from each pack to summon another golem.
and there is no distance between golems spawns as they are random. but the villagers check in a 16x6x16 area for a golem, so getting them away from the villager that summoned them as quickly as possible is a must to get maximum efficiency
Ok, I have no idea what I'm doing anymore. I can't even get MCedit to work to show you a schematic. So here's my save of the world I guess. Please ignore the random failed designs ^^'

That's just the level.dat, just 3 kB I don't think that's enough to do anything with.
I think you need to upload the whole directory you found that in.
At the very least the region sub folder would be needed, I don't know what else is needed so unless you do just upload the whole directory.
I had the villagers losing their jobs all the time, I was thinking maybe they think they can't reach that middle composter.
So I added a few different job sites at the other end of the beds and for a while they were playing musical chairs with the professions but still no golems.
Then I added a new platform just above the head height of the zombie and I've had three golems spawn there.
I found the problem, your spawning platform was made out of bottom slabs!
Nothing will spawn on those, halfway through replacing them with solid blocks a golem spawned on them.
--
The one to the north east has the same problem.
Nevermind, I guess that's just the roof.
--
Or is it?
If the golems are supposed to spawn above the villagers in that one as well then the slabs have to be replaced or moved up or down a half block there as well.
Ok, I'm confused about where the golems are supposed to spawn.
But if they are supposed to spawn on the ground I suspect you built the thing too high up.
The third video you linked has the zombies cauldron just 3 blocks above the ground.
That's why I asked MadSandwish if there was a maximum amount of distance the spawning platform could be from the villagers. I thought having the iron golems fa- oh wait. Man, I am way more tired than I thought. I was thinking of spawners rules where they can like fall from the villager area to the water area. This is so embarrassing haha 😅
So if I made this same design but with the water platform (and lava collection) closer to the villagers, would it work?
I don't know if iron golems still spawn in water or not.
I'd stick to the design in the video with the zombie luring them towards the center and then those narrow water streams just to give them a helpful nudge in the right direction.
But you could always try, it's easy enough to remove the water if it doesn't work.

I've tried every design I could find. Such as;
Could you put some screenshot in. i have some working farms and could help you.
Also Villagers need to have worked and slept in the past 36000 ticks (about 1 and 1/2 minecraft days)
they also need direct access to the workstations and beds and some sort of light access i believe
.
Do they (the villagers) need to be scared by a monster?

Just testing.
Sorry, I'm super tired. My bad. Here ya go

Now I do know, they do spawn in water.
Just testing.
