Okay so the next step after caging the ocelots and pandas, we have to travel 5000 blocks(approximately 30 minute hike via running) through the nether to bring them back to the base. This is of course a very tedious challenge but we have teamwork. One of us(or maybe few) makes sure that the path is safe for us to walk across by ridding lava and making walls and getting rid of the hostile mobs, while the rest of us brings the animals. (Though i feel like the cobblestone builder in this situation.)
Considering that a large amount of the path is super narrow, i am afraid that the animals might fall. Also my wifi is buggy so i might accidentally disconnect and result in their death.
Do lead and lured animals follow you in one path? Will they fall via luring? If a leaded animal accidentally falls would the lead hang on to them and not break?
Mob pathfinding traverses the shortest path from where it is now to where you currently are. This means the paths are going to be slightly different from animal to animal and will thus encounter a different set of obstacles. There's also a random factor involved to mediate situations where more than one path can be the shortest and animals will randomly choose different paths.
Leads will not break if an animal falls off a ledge while so attached, they will instead continuously bounce at the end of the leash. The full length of the downward portion of that bounce gets tacked onto the total fall distance for the mob since they last touched ground, so if you've been dragging them along for a while set up a pool of water to drop them in or use a slimeblock landing pad or your mobs will die as soon as you very carefully try to place them on the ground.

If you can find a way home over the sea then tow them behind a boat.
Last I tried, granted that was quite a few updates ago, you could just go full speed with them body surfing behind.
(Might not work for babies that can't swim.)

Oh, you were going through the Nether!
(I didn't read that very carefully.)
Not much ocean then.
Was that 5000 blocks in the Nether?
40000 blocks in the Overworld?
I think I'd still prefer going by boat through the Overworld for as much of the stretch as possible.
Good luck!
And make sure you breed some spares.
Just testing.
