Since the Minecraft Launcher has updated how do you allocate memory to minecraft ? I looked in settings and i didn't see it in there.
This is very simple.
1. open the launcher
2. Click installation
3. Click the version you are playing with
4. Click more options
5. look at JVM arguments, below, you can change the amount of ram you want to allocate ( note 2 GB or 3 GB is enough to run the game)
to change the amount : -Xmx2G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M
change XMx2g to Xmx3G
-Xmx3G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M
hope it helps.
In the launcher click on Installations and select the profile you wish to edit.
Click on the "More Options V" in the lower left corner and you can define a Java Executable and set JVM Arguments.
