and I tried to open the fake 1.14.3 Opti-installer like 10 times and nothing happened. Then I realized I just got baited. Now my PC seems to run a bit.. slower... How do I get rid of the invisible malware? Windows defender is almost futile.
The detection is called "InnoMod," which is a designation for an installer that had an illegal modification of some kind bolted onto it. In other words, this is a legitimate Optifine installer that someone injected malicious code into.
I need you to tell me in detail what happened when you ran it.
In the meantime, I will research solutions in case Malwarebytes doesn't solve your problem.

I just discovered a 1.14.3 version of Optifine on optifine.net, but the download server was blocked by Norton as being a known malicious website. I'm currently looking for another reputable source.

Norton is wrong. https://optifine.net/downloads is the official Optifine site.
I do suggest that you click on (mirror) to download however. That way you avoid the adfly stuff.
If Norton complains add optifine.net to its exclusion list.

Thanks for responding! I hadn't realized that the "Download" link and the "Mirror" link were two separate links because the two words were right next to one another and I apparently clicked on the left side of what I perceived to be a single link, which was the word "Download".
After reading your response, I went back and confirmed to myself that by mousing over the two words, the word "Download" led to adfly and the word "Mirror" led to optifine.net. In future I will be more careful. The optifine link worked fine. Now I'm eager to try out Optifine with 1.14.3.

give it a try with Malwarebytes, Malwarebytes adware removal, and if the Malware seems to hide cannot be detected, try Rouge Killer, TDSS killer, and Malwarebytes chameleon.
So I googled "1.14.3 Optifine" and this is the first site that came up in Google:

I'd suggest Adaware (in spite of the name it checks for viruses as well)
https://www.adaware.com/
and Malwarebytes
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/
both can be run in free versions.
Just testing.
I've obtained a file from the fake optifine site and ran an analysis on it:

Might be a little late to this thread but Malwarebytes is a good option for malware removal and all that jazz.
