I'm not really a builder, I usually just dig a hole in the side of a hill to start my mine and add a door and a window or 2.
I also usually dig a hole on the side of a hill and add door.
At the beginning of the game a small hole, later I expand my architectural masterpiece to a big hole with many chests and lots of unsorted junk, I add some slave camp for the villagers, some farms around, etc.
I think I'm one of the few who puts a lot into my starter home. Not including the dirt huts that I hide in on the first few nights anyway lol. I tend to build a storage room, a "kitchen", and a living room. My storage room stays an unorganized mess for a few weeks but I eventually get it together. As I progress in my world I like to build additions to my starter home and keep making it larger. I think I've only "moved out" of my starter home once or twice in my 5 years of playing.
If "first house you build in your survival world" is taken to mean first shelter, I'm one of the hole-in-a-hill/dirt-hut crowd…
If it is taken to mean a planned 'house' (ie non-functional kitchen/bedroom/lavatory/library/etc), this isn't something I tend to build…
If it means something more like 'base', the first one in a new world tends to be rather hodgepodge, with various elements put where I've space and when I have resources…(cobble maker and mob farm being likely to immediately follow a starter farm and mine).

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
My first house is usually a square wooden house or an underground base. I don't go for detail that much, I focus more on the space (if I can put more than one bed, furnace, double chest, etc.). Then, I go for a second floor where I move the bed but create new chests, place armor stands, a brewing stand and stuff like that. Not much but the basics.
Back when I was like, thirteen playing in the early days, I would build a dirt hut and then make a big farm house that was all pretty and realistic and buildable but ever since I returned after a few years hiatus, I have more often then not focused on big sprawling bases that go in to mountains, hillsides, and/or carve underground in some way, probably because I keep watching Hermitcraft and really started to acknowledge how cool bases are, and I'm not thirteen year old me anymore who thought redstone was a way of cheating the natural system of Minecraft. Still, kind of sad that I don't just build cute, 2-3 story houses anymore.
