It was announced last year to come out early 2019 and we still have yet to see the update come out.
Instead of 1.14 coming out, they decided to throw in "Minecraft 3D" the super old version which kind of annoyed me.
I keep regularly checking news, waiting for the update to come out and don't know the release date yet just knew that is was early 2019, but then I later noticed they changed it to "sometime" this year which can be until December.
I know people get the early beta version or mod whatever to get ahead and check out the new things, but I wanted to play it when it's fully out.
At the normal rates, we should be having the first pre-releases within 3 weeks and maybe a full month after that before the pre-releases get to a point of "job done". However, 1.14 wasn't exactly normal and there's a lot of stuff that was added. It's likely to take longer simply because there's more stuff.
It would not surprise me to see a version labled 1.14.0 'released' sometime in late-June/mid-July (of 2019)…
Given what happened with 1.13 [18Jul18], however, how much longer before an actually playable version is released is a crapshoot (1.13.2 was released 22Oct18, and is still hardly bug-free.)
The extensive changes to villager/villages – and, by extension, iron farms – suggest it would be wise to ignore any published schedule and get things stable (and hopefully 'right') before releasing. [The dissatisfaction by significant sections of the MC player community with the changes orphaning older worlds ought also be addresssed by reverting the farm-griefing that now appears to be MS/Mjs primary agenda.]

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.

As usual with Mojang, it's done when it's done. Only they know when they're gonna release it.
They are mostly fixing bugs now in the snapshots, which might mean a pre-release is coming soon.
