Has anybody else had issues with somebody coming on the server and griefing, massively... leaving the word TAB with a swastika next to it and a sign that pretty much states "Team Abomination was here."
A creative server I co-own had that this morning, but what was really weird, is that a friend I've known for years, his IGN was used for part of the grief. I'm not familiar with 'hacked clients' that much so I have no idea if somebody using one has the ability to 'borrow' another player's name (if they're online) and have it appear as that person griefed.
It's Team Avolition and they don't do Minecraft griefing/hacking anymore. What you're most likely dealing with are copycat griefers since they were quite popular back in the day.
As for your friend's name showing up in the logs, there are several possibilities. Either his account info got leaked and someone simply stole his account. If that wasn't the case maybe he just happened to be there or was tricked into going along with the grief. If the server uses a recent version and is also not cracked I am not aware of any other exploits that would enable you to take over another player's name.
It could be a copycat if they couldn't even try the same name, but I attached a screenshot where it does say Team Abomination on the sign.
I'm about to double check the logs since my brain was fried yesterday to see if I can figure it out, but I'll tell him to change his password in case it did somehow get leaked, but they didn't change his info - since he's still able to log onto his account.
I don't think he would've been tricked into griefing with whoever it was, he was on the server I co-owned years ago and never griefed then. =/
Thanks for your help though. I appreciate it.
Edit - Just finished the logs, and my friend who's name was showing up was AFK, never issues any WE commands (like the brush tool - which seemed to be used for the griefing) and was evening not even logged in on the server while some grief took place using his name.
