Hi there! I recently started a new world to celebrate the overhaul of 1.14, which is especially important because trading is my favorite part of the game and that's done gone and changed, but anyways, in the new world I started, my spawn was in a jungle. I figured it was time to try and finally make something out of a jungle since I usually avoid them for building in. And I have come across game breaking lag, like horrible long spikes of near 1fps. Is there a workaround, or does anyone else have these issues, I've had jungle biome performance issues in the past but have been able to ignore them since I've never tried to make home out of the biome.
Most infuriating part of it is my computer specs are far beyond this game. CPU is i9-7900x, GPU is 1080ti. I can start a world and fly through biomes with 32 chunks rendered better then I can walk around this jungle biome with just 15 chunks loaded.
In the advanced options, enable the lagometer, abd play with debug info up. Chances are you are likely to see lots of spikes of a particular color. Refer to lagometer settings what that color is for.
Also, in advanced launcher options, check what JVM parameters are being used.
I am playing with Forge and some mods, and I been encountering behavior similar to yours in many places. Especially things would get bad if I swithced to Nether and back. Lagometer showed I had huge 'Garbage collection' spiked. A few changes to JVM oarameters including allocating a 4GB memory footprint eliminated all those issues.

Is this in the same 1.14 snapshot? (How bad the lag gets tends to change from one snapshot to the next.)
As jungle tends to be one of the 'tallest' biomes – as well as having the most semitransparent leaf blocks, it makes sense that any lag issues would tend to show up first in such an area [At least considering naturally generated areas.]
This is not the first complaint I've seen about increased lag in newer versions [1.13.n getting its own share of the 'love']…
While it may be hoped that MS/Mj takes the time to thoroughly optimize the code before putting out a 'release' version, recent experience is not encouraging….
