& I leave it on 24/7 so it can be played anytime. The server reboots at 4am every monring, and updates during the reboot so it is always the latest paperclip version. At the time of this post, it is based on the 1.13.2 java server.
I have a house cut into a hill near the world spawn point and there are 4 beds side by side with their head end against a wall.
Here's the wierd thing. Every time any of us go to bed (the beds are different colours so we know which is which) we all wake up in the romm that is the other side of the wall in a spot about 2 blocks from the head end of the beds. It is not random, it is 100% repeatable.
I have no idea if this issue is a function of being a java server, of being the paperclip server, or of being hosted on a Raspberry Pi. What could be the issue?
You aren't leaving enough spawn points with the beds side by side and heads against the wall.
You could try to leave a space next to the wall or spaces next to the beds. This would probably solve the problem.
I've had cases where I tried to put a bed in too small a space and literally spawned outside.
There are 10 potential spawning spaces around a bed...the two blocks on each side and the 3 blocks bounding the head and foot (it's a 3x4 rectangle, with the bed itself occupying the 2 central blocks). Like with bookshelves and the enchanting table, there cannot be anything in these spaces (no carpets, probably no redstone, no fences/gates, no doors/trapdoors, etc but grass/flowers/saplings/torches are probably okay.) The blocks you stand on when standing next to the bed must be non-transparent blocks (ie, blocks that mobs can spawn on); glass, bottom slabs, upright stairs, carpet, leaf blocks, chests, etc will not work.
You have to have at least 1 block to spawn on or else the bed gets flagged as obstructed/missing, but other than glitching through blocks the game will not attempt to place you on a block further out from the bed.
When I remove the wall from the head end of the beds, I wake up at the corner of the head end where the wall was.
With the wall back in place, Minecraft just moves us 1 block further away from the beds and into the next room. It really does repeatedly wake all 4 of us up not next to our beds, but 1 block further away the other side of the wall. So I still do not understand why this happens on this particular world. We have other worlds with our 4 beds side by side and in those we wake up on the beds and not the other side of the walls against which the bed head ends are placed.
My 3 boys & I have had a vote. Instead of moving the wall or the beds, we have put chairs, a table with cake and pumpkin pie in the room we wake up in, so we go to bed in the work room, and wake up in the food room for breakfast.
I have setup a paperclip java server on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ using script I've linked to on this post:-

It's probably due to how Minecraft calculates where to spawn you/ bed obstruction.
(she/they)
Get my 1.10.2 modpack :D, Quae Machinis (Machines and Things)
Have a nice day!

Thanks for the comments.
