I recently came across this page
that describes and links to a script to set up a Raspberry Pi minecraft java server with the minimal amount of effort.
I have been playing around with the standard java server for a while and found it to be a bit laggy on a Raspberry Pi 3B+, but this server works so well, even with 4 players and view distance = 10.
If you have an RPi and want an easy to setup server, try this. I now have a low power server that I can leave running all day that does not need a PC left on to do so.
(I am in no way associated with the page link above but it works so well for me I though I'd post it here.)
