I know it's my fault I died but do you know how extremely hard it is to get silk touch in this game, I had to trade with villagers for it and now it's gone all of my stuff is gone. why do you have to lose everything when you die seriously ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
it's so extremely hard to get silk touch I get it and poof gone in an instant. can't there be some way to get back your items like a place it spawns on even if u have to trade woth a villager to get them back u have any idea how it feels to get a full inventory of goodies and lose everything ๐ I will never get used to this stupid mechanic

Since you found a librarian with a silk touch trade, getting new silk touch books should be trival. Just trade paper for emeralds (or produce with a farmer)....

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV โ if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
I decided long ago that if I play a game I do it for recreation and to enjoy myself. I only play Minecraft in Singleplayer mode, and I have no compunctions about using cheats if it increases my enjoyment. I always use /gamerule keepInventory true, and my enjoyment level has visibly risen.
Sometimes Silk Touch enchantments seem to fall into my lap and other times I struggle to find them, so I sympathize with you. Yesterday I lost my new enchanted diamond pickaxe not through death, but because I was careless in a mine and fell through a hole into lava. I managed to jump out and douse myself with water so I didn't die, but I must have hit the Q key by accident and thrown my pickaxe away while I was flailing about trying to jump out of the lava and it was destroyed. :-(
Note 2 : always take extended fireproof potion around lots of lava. Yes you need a trip to nether for some netherwart/blase rods/magma cream/glowstone.
Note 3: build a high volume mob grinder and getting any enchantment is trivial.

In SSP, "To keep all of your valuables when you die: gamerule keepInventory True" is available should you prefer. (see https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Commands/gamerule )
Some servers may also use this option.
