So I've been slaying for quite a while with my Flame I Bow. However, I can't seem to get a carrot from a zombie. By any chance does fire affect food item drops?
Fire will cause cooked foods to fall from mobs that drop uncooked varieties (pigs, cows, rabbits, chickens, sheep, guardians, and I suppose 1.13 fish). It will not otherwise affect mob drops...aside from the usual chance that the drop falls into the fire and gets destroyed (which cannot happen with the mob-on-fire type of flame).

Nope. Fire only affects drops from animals: instead of dropping raw meat, the meat is cooked.
If you want to get a carrot from a zombie you should either make a zombie grinder or a sword with the looting enchantment.
