I am Senior Admin, Head of Staff Management xSyncx on the developing server GunpointGaming.
The servers original idea was kind of like Prison. You start as E1(Recruit) and go into the warzone with a boat made up of blocks. Once you kill a player, you mine the blocks in their boat and sell the materials. Enough money, become E2. The ranks would be military ranks instead of E1 and E2. Im just shortening.
We are still trying to make a decision if we should turn it into a mil-sim similar to factions: many islands in a sea. Players claim them and at a certain size they can apply for the status of nation. They can go to wars with other factions with the same boat mechanic except the block collection is optional but still a good way to get money. As the enemy dies, they lose influence after all and their territory decreases.
I'd really like if you told me which idea you'd be most interested in. A twist on prison/pvp or a naval mil-sim[/b]
i personally like the second idea better. it seems quite novel, but also keeps the familiar aspect of factions GvG. it might be harder to pull off though as it seems you have to maintain a sizable player base. im just thinking out loud, would you restrict the boundaries of the world depending on how many players (or factions or nations) were active? that way they'd be forced to compete more than just hiding out far away and stockpiling. im thinking of the way the SmallWorld board game operates to limit the world size and resources
