My 14 year old has been using my Mac Air to game on (mostly Minecraft) for years as she has a Chromebook. For her birthday last week I gave her the Aspire 5 A515-52G. She is having a hard time playing Minecraft and is hoping to return it and buy a used MacAir 13.5 (2013-14) like mine. I got a good Cyber Monday deal on the Acer and spent about 500 dollars on it, the 2014 Mac Air 13 I am looking at is 1.4 Ghz, Core i5, 128 GB and would cost 550.00 It is HER present so I want her to be happy but is she crazy, I mean does she just need to get used to the Acer or is she better off with the Mac?

Post the DXDiag of the Aspire. Directions are in my signature.
Also, open the debug menu (press F3) while Minecraft is running and take a screenshot (press F2). I suspect the game may be running on the integrated GPU rather than the dedicated GPU.
Theoretically, the Acer should run the game considerably better than the MacBook Air. It's a newer computer with better components.
Hello all,
My 14 year old has been using my Mac Air to game on (mostly Minecraft) for years as she has a Chromebook. For her birthday last week I gave her the Aspire 5 A515-52G. Thank you kindly for your opinions.

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming
RAM: 16GB DDR3
HDD: 525GB SSD, 2TB and 4TB HDD
OS: Windows 10 Pro and Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Looking at the specs it should be capable of running MC and system programs without a problem.
How much ram does it have? (capable of 4 - 16 gigs)
I suspect her problem is set up rather than capability.
Unfortunately, I am not someone that can solve any setup discrepancies.
