Hi, new here. Sorry if i created this thread in a wrong section, if i did, please take it to another one.
So... I have a small Polish channel for a whole yeah, only 138 subs. I had some fails but i had now fresh beginning. I'm starting it yet again.
I'm recording with OBS, i'm recording TF2, Terraria and CS:GO... But still i can't get through it. I mean, i can't get many new fans that will want to REALLY watch my videos. I'm editing, i like what i do. In my newest video with TF2 i get 7 likes and 1 dislike...
So... I got a NEW idea that would maybe bring some new fans. And here's the question... Is recording Minecraft Machinimas still worth it?
One of the biggest Polish channels that record machinimas like 'Life of a Zombie in Minecraft' has already almost 1 million subs!
There are more channels like this in my country but... I can't know how really much of them are here. I'm a bit scared that i will do a fine job, but i won't get any fans yet again because of the others... So, what do you think? Is it worth it in my place? I would be 'The Camera' and i would have a few friends. Of course i would use subtitles for those Machinimas.
I'll be thankful for every reply!
PS. If you would want it, i can send link to my channel, but still i don't think it'll help that much because it's in Polish language so yeah...

I honestly don't watch minecraft machinimas, but that's mostly due to the fact that the ones I find have inappropriate language in them. I think having a mix of content is what a lot of gaming youtubers are these days. Doing more than the same thing over and over again. I think if you kept up a few machinimas (maybe one every week or so?) and just a few gameplays and content you enjoy, you'll get a popular channel. The best thing is to experiment with different video types.
If you're making YouTube content because you want fans, you're doing it wrong. You need to do something that you enjoy (which you say that you do already) and make content because you enjoy making content and not because you want fans. You can experiment and decide whether or not you enjoy doing something different, but make the decision based on your personal enjoyment and not on what you think the general public will like.
If you do something that you enjoy, audience will come eventually. The key is to be persistent, because it just takes time to build up an audience and it's easier to be persistent if you do something that you enjoy.
If you think you will enjoy making machinimas, then go ahead. If you think you won't like it, but it will get you loads of fans, then don't, because you will see it gets harder to keep producing good content. You'll get demotivated very quickly.
To summarise: Don't make content to please the population but rather to please yourself and the audience will come eventually.
But what do I know? I don't do YouTube, I'm not well known in any way and I don't publish my content. I don't really care either tbh.
