So I personally like using the Beacon Blocks in Creative Mode. But with that being said. I could see a lot more potential if Beacons had more Versatility
I've Provided an image for a better visual of what I would personally list off to make things better with Beacons.
**Note - The Blue Glass in the Pictures is meant to represent a floor. Orange/Red Glass is meant to represent the Beam from a Beacon**
Beacon on Left is your Standard Beacon with Red Beam. To the Right is my thought that you should be able to point a beacon in Multiple Directions.
Think of building a House/Structure and putting a beacon in each corner of your build.
A bit more detail to #2 with a Twist. Beacons can be a cool usage for lighting in your builds. But instead of filling the skies with beams from you beacons. Why not update the beacons in the sense of keeping the beam even when a Solid Block is placed over the beam?
Number 4 is basically another angle of #3 in the sens that your build is Multiple Floors. But consider this. Say you don't want the Beam of the beacon travelling into your 2nd floor (Red Beacon). Instead you place a solid block over the Beam (Orange Glass with Iron Block). The beam stays from the main Beacon Source to the Solid block and stops there.
Looking back at #1. 5, 6 and 7 are basically the concept of pointing the beacon in other directions that aren't straight into the skies. This concept can be used for some really cool Floor/Roof Lighting. It could also be cool for Sculpting fun builds. Imaging if you could make a TNT Cannon look like a gun with a Laser Sight? well... Beacon Beam pointed on it's side would be sweet for making a Laser Sight Effect. A really cool Idea if you could point the Beacons in all directions too. Think of Laser Levels in construction. u can point a laser from Point A to Point B. Point B to Point C... etc.. To use the Beacons in this manner can help users in the game to map out builds. Think of Tron too.
So those are my thoughts on Beacons and how you could use them to a higher versatility in Positioning of Beacons. Think too of the Beacon's abilities working the same as the Conduit and how with the Conduit you still get it's affects when it's enclosed. Beans can still give off their affects maybe a bit lower when beam is restricted to an enclosed structure. This could make mining Underground a lot better when lost underground too.
