So, I've got a little question about this. How does the game render the extruded textures? I just learned how to make 3D models for the items and I just thought... what if I just replace -for example- the sword texture with a low poly model? Wouldn't that get way less polygons on screen? Because you can make a sword that looks just like stock sword but without pixelating with 7 cubes (make it 8 if we're going for twisted handle), meaning 42 quad polygons, meanwhile if the extruded texture is rendered as polygons, there are a whole lot of them there.
