Why are people leaving minecraft for fortnite I mean they are both great games but why don’t you just play fortnite and minecraft? Anyway that was my rant for today and for all of you fortnite fans can you play minecraft in fortnite? No Can you play fortnite in minecraft? HELL YA
That number is from December and we actually increased from that, just haven’t released it since we put the 70M out since it seemed too soon and we don’t like to be too cheat beat-y.
There must have been a quite significant increase since January if they feel embarrassed ("too cheat beat-y") to say how how many players/sales there are now.
Mostly because Fortnite has a stronger mass appeal than Minecraft (in 2018). I strongly dislike fortnite and play Minecraft almost once or twice a month now. Fortnite is more readily updated and Minecrafts appeal which was its simplicity has been destroyed by recent updates. Minecrafts golden age is over and fortnite is going through its golden age right now.
No offense, I think they are stupid what they do this, and after 1 year with Fortnite removing users this is what Fortnite deserves:
Finally one of the most stupid games and theft of many users of popular games is dying, and probably in a few months, many of the players who left Minecraft for Fortnite, come back to our beloved Minecraft.
Nor is it that I hate Fortnite, I have never played it, but I hate that many players left Minecraft, although at present I see that there are more players in Minecraft
Thank you mancu32 I agree with what you said yes minecraft is out of its golden age but it feels like fortnite golden age is going to be over before it begins

Actually as someone who regularly plays on multiplayer servers, which overtime has become flooded with toxic players, the recent Fortnite craze has emptied the servers of most of them, making a better, less toxic community.
Actually, comparing Minecraft and Fortnite would be like comparing apples with a piece of cotton.
i agree, Minecraft is a sandbox game, fortnite is a battle royal game, If someone likes the sandbox genre then they will most likely enjoy minecraft and other sandbox games more than fortnite. Some of the reasons why everyone is playing fortnite is because
A) despite what people think, its a very polished game with great mechanics
people like killing other people cuz fun and violence
C) its free
some might argue that fortnite is also a sandbox game because of "sandbox mode" and building, but that just doesn't change that its just a 3rd person shooter

They are similar because you can build & fortnite has pickaxes similar to minecraft
They are different games, your question is like asking why people leave fortnite for forza, its just people want to play something else, minecraft isn't the only game out there.
Wait - there's other games than Minecraft ??
On serious note though ... I'm one of the Minecraft > Fortnite crew and I haven't left.. I play Fortnite STW (Not BR) mainly because I wanted to try something different & while STW does involve some resource gathering just like Minecraft, it has enough differences that you just can't compare Minecraft to Fortnite
TL;DR Minecraft's popularity reminds me of Pokemon's popularity
I shall tell you a tale as old as time, people become "hype" for new games, game become popular, game become less popular.
I once played a little niche game called Pokemon I'm sure you've heard of it. Pokemon had a pretty big following by the time it hit my country (USA), everyone loved the creatures, the long term rpg mechanics and the possibility of getting a secret pokemon through mysterious means.
The next generation of it came out 2-3 years later, it was compatible with the older games and you could trade your pokemon from them to the new one.
This was the height of pokemon.
Then Yugioh came out, I was called childish. Yugioh is much more mature and its creatures are much cooler. I didnt think so.
Yugioh was cool to me but I never understood the hate I got for still liking pokemon.
Then the next generation of pokemon games came out, people hated it. Said it ruined pokemon. I almost fell into that category before my brother gave me a copy of the game, making it no risk to me since I didn't have to spend my allowance or wait for Christmas. I grew fond of its new mechanics.
Pokemon while still less popular than second generation seemed to have some stick around for the 4th generation. I skipped this gen, a skunk pokemon and they are all looking like robots or digimon (this is literally what I thought). Then remakes of 2nd generation on 4th generation mechanics came out. I absolutely loved it and to this day is one of my favorite games.
Other games came in and out of popularity, Pokemon kind of floated between remembered fondly to "well that was a thing".
League of legends emerged in this time, it wasn't at its height mind you but it was part of my life. Sims 3 and even some Wii Titles were still big.
Then Gen 5 got announced. What I thought had turned into a niche turned out to be much bigger than I had anticipated, Everyone around me all the sudden remembered pokemon and I felt like it was 1998 again. To my surprise, people around me remembered it quite well and even some people have been stealth playing it for the past decade. Even though I was an adult at this time I felt like I was in with what was cool again and it felt so amazing to see people come back to it. 6th gen even had a similar response, mostly due to it being something pokemon fans have wanted for a very long time (a fully 3d main series pokemon game). Since then Pokemon seems to have stabled itself as a cult classic like starwars or DnD.
Forgive my ramblings but as popular as minecraft has become I dont believe it CAN even die at this point.
It will no doubt reemerge when the players that played it in its height grow up and get that nostalgic feeling of returning to familiar comfort.
TL;DR Dont worry about it, if my experience with Pokemon tells me Minecraft still has a healthy road ahead of it.

I don't think fortnite has nearly the staying power than Minecraft does, even if it is more popular right now. There is something special about Minecraft that even older people can see.
I think Fortnite is stupid.....stupid...stupid. It is violent, and people murder each other. Also, all my friends have turned on Minecraft when they started playing Fortnite. For some reason, people who used to like Minecraft who now like Fortnite hate on Minecraft for some weird reason. My best friend got 175 dollars!!! HE was gonna spend all of it on V-Bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But his parent did not let him spend the last 25 dollars. (I AM VERY GLAD ABOUT THAT) Later probably, people will see that a lot of their childhood on.............FORTNITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like Fortnite is trying to destroy Minecraft.

Because they aren't?
That is referring to this article from January:
Minecraft Sales Hit 144 Million, Mojang Boasts of 74 Million Active Monthly Players
For comparison, this was from a year before (prior to the rise of games like PUBG and Fortnite):
Minecraft sales hit 122M copies 55 million people play it per month
There must have been a quite significant increase since January if they feel embarrassed ("too cheat beat-y") to say how how many players/sales there are now.
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Because they're people.
They have opinions, they have emotions. ,
they're good companions to shield yourself from dalek lasers-They play what they want.

“There are no evil weapons, only evil people” - Someone, I guess?
Fortnite looks like minecraft though they avoided copyright issues by just adding other weapons thats the reason why they are leaving MC

RE people leaving >whatever< for that stupid >whatever<
Why?
They came, they saw, MC wasn't their cuppa…
Would be unsurprised to find a "Why are people leaving Fortnight for that stupid MC" on the comparable forum.
