So yesterday I was fiddling around with my Oculus Rift and decided to try MC. The game at Oculus store is free but will not launch unless you have a proper copy of Win10 MC. And yeah what you play is a Win10 edition I don't care much for but... holy smokes! The feeling of presence is incredible. Tall grass goes to your face, 3-block cane towers over you, mountains are mountainous, horses are life sized! Gotta also say, controls are well done and extremely intuitive.
Then I decided to try out Vivecraft. It is an open source project that builds on creating a special profile, supports forge and by extension all its mods. It connects you in via Steam VR so by extension it works with any headset that Steam supports. I loaded up my current 1.11.2 world and went exploring. Presence feeling is just as awesome but default controls are kinda weird. Just need to set them up to my liking. I use full free motion controls, but for those who have motion sickness, there is a short range teleport movement option.
Ravines in MC can be fairly impressive even on a monitor. Looking into a ravine in VR.... I got vertigo. Walking through a village and seeing those guys walking about around YOU life-sized. As opposed finger sized on monitor in front of you.
Sure I had Rift for a while but only now got around to trying it in MC. Wish I got to it sooner.
