View our recap of Minecraft Live, where the cave update and new mobs were introduced!
The last time I took this game seriously was in version 1.7, maybe 1.8
I need to catch up.
The best website to catch yourself up on is
You can go thru each major update and see the changes.
I only started playing MineCraft Java since I think 1.10, and its changed a lot since then, So I can only imagine how much its changed since 1.7/1.8
All the big things
1.9- Combat completely changed now you have to time your attack instead of spamming, the end is infinite and has purple trees and dungeons, you can glide in survival with the elytra (huge update)
1.10- Polar bears, magma blocks, fossils (tbh a boring update)
1.11- Evil villagers who live in roofed forest mansions, rideable llamas, totem of undying
1.12- Wool became colorful, concrete and glazed terra-cotta, tame useless parrots (color!)
1.13- Fish dolphin and turtle mobs, tridents, water zombies, coral and kelp, flying phantoms which attack those who don't sleep, the textures were completely changed (upcoming, currently in snapshots)
1.9= PvP Changes, Craft for End Crystal, Chorus Fruit, End City, Shulker, Elytra
1.10= Magma Block, Polar Bears
1.11= Woodland Mansion, Evoker, Tótem Of Undiying, Shulker Box, Llamas.
1.12= Cement, Parrots, New Sounds
-snip- (no fun allowed)
Haha what a coincidence.
I also, literally haven't played at all for about 3 years (since 1.8 I think), and re-downloaded the game today to see what it's like.
Wow, all I can say is that Minecraft has changed a lot. I wonder how Notch would feel about this. It was meant to be somewhat simple, and look how complex it is now!
Thread cleaned up. People, the OP is asking about what has changed, not how people feel about Minecraft development or the quality or quantity of the new content.
Please stay on-topic.
