First step try checking the task manager to see what kind of demands this is placing on memory & CPU (under ther Performance tab).
Also check the sort of throughput you're getting (under the Networking tab)
[Depending on your system, the issue may be trying to run two demanding programs at once. A laptop, lack of a graphics card and Win8 suggest an older, lower end system (at least as far as video & gaming is concerned).]
You might see if you can listen to/view mp4 or flv files stored on your hard drive; if this is successful, it is likely, the connection speed, the browser, or youtube itself creating the issue.
You might also check what the stats look like with only MC running...
if the FPS (second line left side of the f3 screen) is under ~60 and/or the CPU usage (as shown in the task manager) is >~70&,
that computer may be only marginally able to run MC.
Something else you might try is installing Optifine and playing with the settings (the Optifine site has recommendations) which may improve performance enough to support simultaneous music from the web.
