I have seen Guardian farms come up as a past thread, but I plan on making a Guardian Farm on an SMP. Problem is with 1.13 it rules out a lot of current guardian farms. I was wondering if anyone had a design they would like to share that's 1.13 friendly, and yields a good amount of drops. (15k-100k per hour).
The most common Guardian farm designs I'm familiar with (variants of gnembon's "+" shape above a drop shaft with lava 'softener' eg.
Minecraft 1.12 Fixes for Guardian Mob Farms. Fun Farms Ep. 14 ) should be fine if MS/Mj doesn't re-reverse course on signs…

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
Thank you! That is what I was concerned with, I thought the signs would not work because of the new game mechanics that would be introduced into 1.13, but I did not exactly know that lava/water sources will presumably continue to work if placed above signs.
The original water-change as presented at Minecon Earth would have had water just outright flowing through partial blocks like signs, ladders, stairs, slabs, and fences/gates, with ambguity left for doors and other blocks. That would've broken just about every water-inclusive design.
Because of the uproar over that, Mojang then changed gears when it got closer to snapshot time (but not yet released out to players to test) and decided that blocks that COULD have water flowing through them would have to have the water added by players manually via rightclicking with a water bucket. This entirely kept the old mechanics as default but at least gave players a means to address the issue that first brought up the water changes to begin with (ugly air pockets). However, this raised up another large complaint in the form of having to do a massive amount of manual work.
Thus, in the snapshots, Mojang revealed that blocks that could have water pass through would only have water passing through if said block was placed in a source block--instead of replacing the source like it used to do it creates a composite block that is both the water source and whatever block was being placed. This makes the passthrough an automatic feature, but since this only happens with source blocks we still preserve the old mechanics as well.
Hello!
Thank you!
What part of 1.13/14 are you concerned with?

I appreciate the feedback, thank you.
