Would it really be so bad if Javacraft was no longer updated? The game is pretty much feature-complete.
Maybe I'm biased because I like mods, and the modding community (or at least /r/feedthebeast) thinks that a final version of Java Minecraft would be good; there would be no mod updating to do, mods would have an infinite amount of time to develop, and because of this the stability of the modded game like it was in 1.7.10. would be much easier to achieve.
That's just my opinion. But I guess that's what forums are for, discussing our opinions.
i think the new update should be called optimization update and they should include optifine with forge in game that is the least they should do if they will stop supporting it

Seriously, those are just 3rd party software. and we already have a official modding system.
Add-ons are nothing compared to real mods... for now. They're far from finished with them. There's already been one update to add additional functionality, and they'll be more updates coming.
BTW, if they optimize the java edition's code, you wouldn't need Optifine, would you?

for now? and I am talking about now maybe it will be super cool in the feature but we are not there yet
some people wouldn't but I would because some times I use shaders and win10 edition is not that optimized really people seem to like how optimized it is but is it? with every update it become slower and it crashed if you do something big like blowing up tons of tnt while java just lag for a second then come back to normal
it was always microsofts intention to do away with the java version, theres no money in it other than the original buy cost. they put over a billion dollars into this game, their stock holders will want that back. youll find that either 1.) in the next two or three OS updates java wont be supported or theyll get right upto minecraft version 1.99 or whatever then theyll release "press statement" of sorts to say that minecraft 2.0 is on its way, then theyll whisper "but its not a java" version. this will effectively kill off the java version leaving only the die hard mod who will stay in older versions. im more interested in knowing whether or not ill have to buy the new version or if those of us who have already bought it will get the free update
Windows 10 Edition is still infinitely more optimized than Java is, or will probably ever be, just from the fact that the code for Minecraft Java is a sloppy mess. Notch didn't originally code Minecraft to be a big game, or to be optimized in any way, and that's still hurting the game today.
I just tested it now after 1.1.1update a bit faster but still so buggy it should still be in beta the biggest bugs are when i use fill command it doesnt fill whole area or crash and when explode tnt it crashes too while java "the un optimized version " doesnt but propably i will switch to win 10 ed after cross play comes cause my friends have xbox
And the java version hasn't slowed down since it started?
Can we continue this conversation at the end of summer?
I have been playing since 1.8 and didnt notice anything but maybe cause it never got huge update since then while pe got alot anyway it is a bit better after 1.1.1
minecraft java is not really good for old system, meanwhile the windows 10 edition run 10 times better than the java (tested on old system) while not all people have "good" system, i'm hoping that the upcoming java version can run better / performance friendly for old system owner.
while waiting they release / prepare this update, the only solution to "play" minecraft is windows 10 edition, unless you can survive <30fps on java version.
In addition to the great post above, Notch was very smart (at the time) making MC with java. Only one version of the program need be made/updated and that one version would work with any OS that runs java (Windows, Macs, Unix, whatever).
However, there's no cross-platform play simply because the platforms it needs to run on don't run java.
Phones don't.
Tablets don't.
Consoles probably could, but won't, mostly for security reasons.
So basically the java version boxed itself in. The old saying "Live by the sword, die by the sword" comes to mind. To make MC with java was a good idea at the time, but this is 2017 and things have changed.... a bunch.
Everyone wants to blame MS, but what have they done, really? To the java version..... nothing! It's been hands off and let Mojang keep on keeping on. The only thing MS has might have had a hand in was creating a Win10 version and creating the Win10/PE cross-platform connection. Now they will expand the cross-platform play to include the consoles (well, not all consoles- Sony decided not to join the party). And why do some consider that a bad thing??? The cries of "Microsoft is ruining Minecraft!" by a few is being drowned out by all the cheers from the crowd.

By the way, this can matter too: 4. MC hadn't gone bad because of gameplay changes. It's because of some magical curse named "nostalgia". I'm having it too. I regret(a bit) the days where 1.7.10 was the latest version. Get over it and try to learn the new stuff.
Edit: Personally, I'm glad that 1.13 will be optimization update and its exactly what Minecraft Java needed.
Where are you getting this?
IMO, Java will not die any time soon. The fanbase is so huge and great. Even if Mojang stops supporting it (which I highly doubt will ever happen) the community will definitely not drop it.

If/When Mojang decides to drop the ball on MC, there will be mods, if not fan continuations of the game. Or what may happen is something like OpenTTD, rewriting it from scratch, but works much better and it's updated by the community, with open mod support.
Oh, poor users, they won't have to install mods to get decent FPS. That would be terrible.

1.13 is going to be about bug fixes and technical features.
And that's what happens when Microsoft buys companies. What else did you even expect could come out of that? Of course Microsoft would want to segregate the Java version and the Windows 10/Multi-platform version: they want as many people to get Windows 10 as possible. I don't think they realise it'll be a long while until people who haven't upgraded to Windows 10 actually consider doing it though. That's why they're not completely making Java edition obsolete yet.

I meant add-ons. That's why we don't hear Modding API news.

That's why people say "MC was better before".

Figured it was time for a change.

Came across this. Take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully they'll stick to their word.

For people who thinks Mojang is killing Minecraft Java Edition
Watch the video that I post above.
