I don't really have an opinion, as some are bad and some are good, but I personally prefer the older sounds. The "Ooh!" sound made when someone was hurt was always so funny. Not to mention the TNT explosion sound. That was especially one of my favorites. Honestly, I would choose Alpha over any of them, just so I could get some good "results."

The MC sounds are really generic, but they can be transformed to other sounds (QuiverBow mod does that perfectly for it's weapons) easily by changing their pitch, for use in adventure maps. The music, however, is really original and cool.
I miss the old hurt sound. I miss the old door sounds. Probably a few other ones too.
Heh! Yeah. You're talking about the old "OOH" sounds, right? I laugh inside every time I hear that. Old door sounds from alpha/beta have this thing about them that I like.

Yeah, the 1.4 update made things sound a lot more generic. The music has always been awesome; no other piece will ever be like it. It's unique.
One of the things I love about this game is how much you can customize it now. The resource pack ability to change things like sound is wonderful.
Change seems to be something people don't like a lot of, but I actually really like the new sounds. I wouldn't tag it as realism, but the new sounds certainly provide more sensory feed back that your brain interprets as an action or event going on. IT makes minecraft a lot more auditory and the extra sound sensory just adds a bit more "immersion" to the game. Not immersion in the way that you feel like you are in the game, but more so immersion that you feel like you are actually playing the game. I know I am no longer used to not hearing the new bucket sounds in older versions of minecraft because it just feels off and like you've not done anything when you don't get that extra auditory sensory feed back. Really we only utilize two of our senses when playing games and I love it when they get stimulated.
The hurt sound had to change as it didn't fit for any female or non-male skins, though I agree it was a really goofy sound. Maybe with the skin selector there could be a few options to pick the hurt sound your skin will use?
I really don't like the new bucket sound, and prefer the old door sounds but am fine with the current.
Howdy,
Just thought I'd pop up a quick poll out of simple curiosity. I actually love the new 1.9 sounds.
-Do you prefer the new, shiny, realistic sounds?
Or...
-Do you prefer the crisp, blocky sounds of old?
Figured it was time for a change.

You may want to read my post while you still can, some of them have been randomly disappearing lately *cough*
I think sound could be better! I use a resource pack to change them all
hi, are you looking for a 1.14 server to play on? IP: 198.50.183.66:25573
I miss some of the old sounds, but for the most part I don't have any problem with the new ones.

I love the old "ouwh" when taking damage, the old doors clickedy sound, the old bow "ptwoiiing", etc. To me they feel more Minecrafty hahahah
