This is especially stupid with beetroot. Its a terrible food source. It requires 6 crops to get a single soup, instead of 3 wheat or one potato. On top of that it has terrible saturation, unlike mushroom stew. This is only compounded by the fact that it is not stackable. Please fix this.

Yeah, Beets are basically worthless IMHO. I only raise them because they look nice in the field view. I never harvest them as the beet soup (Borscht ?) is certainly not worth wasting an inventory slot on where I could have a stack of 64 steaks instead.
Yeah, I never really put much thought into it, but as easy as meats and other, better foods are to come by, stews are pretty darn useless.
I guess it's just an old game mechanic that needs to be revisited by the devs if it's to remain relevant (cough cough furnace minecarts!).
I guess if you have nothing better to do you could make and eat soups just for the sake of doing it; imagine how nice a good mushroom stew would taste...

You may want to read my post while you still can, some of them have been randomly disappearing lately *cough*

Yep! Just had a bowl of RL mushroom stew for supper and it was delish. Never actually made it in MC but for some dumb reason I tend to collect the mushrooms anyway. Go figure.

I've milked many a mooshroom with a wooden bowl. But I suspect most people just don't care all that much. It's painfully easy to breed cows or chickens and carry a stack of 64 high-saturation food items. Given the alternatives are plentiful and easy, there likely isn't a large demand to stack stew.
Thank you all for your insight. It would indeed be difficult to stack bowls of stew as a means of storage, now that I think about it. I suppose I just thought they seemed so useless compared to other food items (apparently I was right there), but I liked the idea of carrying soups to eat... ah! Perhaps a thermos, crafted from iron and 3 (?) soup bowls of the same type, as a multi-use food item could be the answer to this? It could have a usage meter like tools and vanish when depleted.
I play PS4 ed, so maybe I'm just a little behind? I cant be the only person wondering this..
Have you ever tried stacking them for real? It can get a little messy.
You might be the only one wondering about that xD

I bring an empty bowl with me when mining, and collect the shrooms as I find them. Works pretty well when starting out, at least for me.
