I have quite a large village, however, much of the entire village chooses to stay in one building. During daytime, they stay in the same building, and they don't move. I have tried spawning zombies in the building to get them to flee, but once the zombie is dead, they crowd back in.
This is becoming a problem, as villagers from all sides of the entire village would all go there to the one restaurant building, highlighted in red. And on the off chance they exit the building, they loiter around the building.
My theory is that the village center has shifted from the library (the large building in the center) to the restaurant (the building highlighted in red), or a new village with a new center was established around the restaurant. What I need is a solution that does not involve slaughtering villagers.
Thanks in advance.
On second thought, maybe the food is just really good.
In my experience working with villagers, they tend to have a "drift" to them. Over time, they will all migrate to one corner of the village, especially if you build more houses for them. I don't know how to prevent them from doing this, but it seems like they have a tendency to move toward other villagers, and the "village" moves with the mass of villagers.
One suggestion I've seen online (but one that I haven't tried), is to entrap some villagers in each house. Cut a hole in the floor of each house, drop a couple villagers in it, stick a torch in there and cover it back up. This will (theoretically) spread the village out and keep the village center more central by force. You can still have plenty of villagers wandering around, but you need to also entrap some.
I've not tried that myself so I don't know if it works. If you try it, please post what happened here.

Can someone here provide a good solution to this?

I've entrapped some of them, but they all now clump near the library, the large rectangle building in the center.
