If I type /seed in the console, it outputs the seed value of my map. Is there a way to copy that console output? It seems like a simple thing, but I was unable to find a way to do it.
Probably not, but chose your world in the launcher and click "Re-Create", click "More World Options" and copy the seed from the box at the top.
You can't mark the seed with the mouse but if you click on the box and press Ctrl-A it marks it for copying with Ctrl-C
Don't worry about messing up your world , Re-Create doesn't do anything to your original world, it creates a fresh new world using the same settings (unless you change them.)

Recreate world, nice. I'll try that.
"Just use the logs. Otherwise, just right click and mark it. "
You can't right click and mark chat output, which is what /seed produces, but I had forgotten about logs. That likely is the easiest route, thanks for the tip.

Console as in, the in game chat? No, you can't copy from that.
Console as in, the server GUI? Yes, just copy normally (select, ctrl C)
Console as in, the server CMD window? Yep, just select it, right click the top bar of the window, go to edit, then copy.

Yes. Darn.
So if I wanted to copy my world's seed to clipboard to paste into a forum post, there is no way to do that? I ended up typing it by hand: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/discussion/2759130-slime-spawns , but it seemed like there should be a way to copy paste the in game console chat output.

Just testing.
I'm pretty sure you can just Ctrl-A to select, then Ctrl-C to copy. Unless I'm mistaken.
You were!
