Minecraft 1.11 is coming. It had a glorious showcase at Minecon 2016. Thousands of fans, there in Anaheim and from elsewhere, were letting out their excitement for all the new features in this Exploration Update, especially for the Shulker Box. I was hyped too.
But then a few days later, "minorities" of the MC community passively destroy all of my joy. Now my love for 1.11 is not the same.
The response similarities are applicable to most game discussions on the Internet. There is always a group whom harm the community with voices potentially louder than the majority, but often under-representing. Every Minecraft update, I see an illusion of hate by all people. At present time, 1.11, this includes:
1) 1.11 is an underwhelming update (yet this update is larger than 1.10).
2) Mojang is running out of ideas.
3) Vanilla Minecraft is now effectively modded.
4) Mojang doesn't work hard enough on the game. They cannot satisfy their die-hard fans.

I'm probably making most resolutions to the issues I have with Minecraft and other game communities. But I'm certain they're other people hurt as much as I am. Negativity makes my efforts at Minecraft seem obsolete and ineffective, worthless, etc., and I wouldn't want those feelings to carry over through my whole life.
Personally I've long believed their direction is a bit misguided. I'd much rather see a "mundane" update in which we ge tmore variety of things we already have. For instance:
- Reworking the way slabs work so we can stack different kinds into a single block space.
- Adding MORE slabs like glass slabs, etc.
- Adding dirt/grass stairs
- Adding proper, functionally useful furniture like different types of chairs (Wooden chairs, thrones, etc), tables...incidental thinks like that to make our house interiors look better. I appreciate the clever ways people have come up with to simulate furniture but to me it always just looks crappy.
- Adding more complexity to the food system, such as windmills to mill the wheat we get, thus allowing us to make better bread or new recipes.
- More crop types (which I know they have done and applaud), specifically rice so we can make sushi.
- Add more stair types in general.
- native handling of multiblock objects (like for my windmill idea)
- a selection of craftable window frames for glass blocks.
Basically just variants on what's already in the game to give us more options.

Just because due to those people who doesn't like the brand new Minecraft update, it doesn't mean that it is a bad update or Mojang isn't working hard for this game.
To make it more clearer:
1. People are'nt disappointed or underwhelmed by the brand new update. Well at least some, but it is still in a snapshot status which means any flaws could be removed.
2. Well, we could say that but most of the brand ne features were like on twitter possibly from the Minecraft Devs saying "Would you like to add this Woodland Mansion in Minecraft?". They're not running out of ideas, well maybe but not.
3.Why is it effectively vannila effectively modded? They added those in VANNILA Minecraft.
4. Mojang is definitely working hard for Minecraft, especially when Minecraft is Mojang's trademark. They did'nt let us down with the new updates though, they are working hard to make Minecraft more fun to play.
That is all I've gotta say, to sum it all, Mojang is working hard for their games.

I have returned after all these years and I'm internally dying inside whenever I think about the posts I've done prior to this current year. Just don't look at them.
Why must other peoples opinions influence your own? Or is it that you're very wishy-washy, being pulled up and down on a roller coaster ride of emotions and then placing the blame on others?
Let's be clear about something. Minecraft development will never progress at a fast enough pace, nor in the direction that a large segment of the player base thinks. Partially because it's a fairly small development team and it's always easier to play your way through new content then it is for the developers to create it. There are people who experience everything in an update within the first week (if not day) that took the developers 3 months to build. And because everyone has a different vision for the game development there will be a lot of dissatisfaction over what was and wasn't added.
My advice, take whats added at face value and make up your own mind.

Regardless of how Mojang chooses to update Minecraft, there will always be a very verbal minority that will complain that it is the wrong direction, too big of an update, too small of an update, too much focus on bugs/not enough content (or vice-versa), becoming too RPG-ish/too moddy, losing its Minecraft "feel", etc. There is no possible way for Mojang to satisfy everyone, and unfortunately in a lot of cases, the unsatisfied minority can become very loud in their complaining.
If you are getting upset with the negativity, the best (and possibly only) thing that I can recommend is to simply ignore those individuals. I have been on this forum long enough to clearly see that no amount of discussion will change their minds about what they are complaining about. The complaints and arguments and counter-arguments will simply be repeated over and over without any resolution. Ultimately, the only conclusion to a lot of those "discussions" is for the forum staff to lock the thread.

While I personally have not ever updated past 1.8.8,the new updates have decent features.
Thos who aren't satisfied with the updates are the tryhard fans that can't stand changes happening to their favourite block game,so they complain to everyone, including their poor family members...

I think they are making the updates with not many major changes. 1.9, 1.10 and 1.11 all together could of easily been one update but it wasn't. I would rather wait longer for big updates than smaller updates quicker. some could even argue that Mojang are getting lazy and pushing updates out more frequently to make it seem like they are constantly supporting the game. IMO it would look like they were supporting it more if they did this instead of rushing out updates.

There are trade-offs to either path. The biggest factors are bugs and mod updating. Doing one big update instead of small incremental updates would just mean a lot more bugs to squash and harder to figure out what changes in the update have caused the bug and for modders a lot more work to do all at once to get their mod compatible with the large update. The smaller more frequent updates spreads out the volume of work for the devs and modders to bug fix and update mods. Additionally once they know they have a stable update that hasn't added to the bug list they can move forward knowing that they have a good foundation for the next set of upcoming features being worked on.
The snapshots help with both of these things, but even so, once the update goes live there are always bugs that never got found or still need fixed. Many times the resolution to bugs ends up creating other issues that need fixed, so post update there will always be bugs to fix despite snapshot play testing/bug reporting.
I have always seen vanilla mc as a base model. It's a fresh clean model that anyone can play on because there is not 10K of mods all over the place making it a lag fest. And Mojang is improving and adding a little bit to little bit on that model, if they were to make a massive update then it would no longer be vanilla mc it would become modded mc.
So, If you want more out of the game, you should check out some mod packs, there is plenty there to explore.
P:S - We may not see the work that goes behind the updates, but I am sure it is a LOT of work.

I can't wait for 1.11. It renewed my faith in this games progress and has made me want to play again. Sure for how long this game has been out the progress seems slow but its a small team working on a game that's on every platform, not many games are like that. If you think its not going anywhere then stop whining about it and mod the game to your liking. This game will only go as far as your imagination. Btw stop using the term modded MC, anything they come out with isn't a mod you have to install its the core game. It's will always be vanilla.
What I'm about to say may tear away any excitement.
You have been warned.

Starting with snapshot 16w40a, Mojang has been fixing a ton of bugs. But, the changes resulting from some of them have spawned controversy and fears. I and other people have started wondering if Mojang has no choice in these changes, due to Microsoft...
Do we have a say in whether or not these recent changes should be kept or reverted?
16w40a: Piston Translocation was patched. IMO, this is minor, except those who used it to their advantage.
16w41a: The Observer Block was made "objectively" worse. Its pulse is longer and stronger and no longer "powers" air blocks. The 1-tick pulse and level 1 signal strength was favored.
16w43a: Redstone Repeaters and Comparators no longer update the block in front of them, if it's air.
I don't mind the updates that mojang has been pushing out, but I really want them to add something huge and different from anything else in the game. For a long time we haven't had anything as out there as the End Poem or the Nether, which I think would be turned down by mojangsters today for not being minecraft-ish.
I agree, but that will be almost impossible to do without changing what Minecraft is, which I find to be an even worse thing. This is why I think there should be a sequel.
Maybe my perception of dominating negativity in Minecraft and other gaming communities isn't accurate to the complete player-base. Typically, around 80% of players don't regularly interact with a game's online resources, including discussion forums. And only about 5% are the hardcore.
So, there's a small portion of people that I've taken potentially strong biases from. It's not best to always cater to those people though. A middle school science teacher told me, "There are advantages and disadvantages to everything." How important is the minority, compared to majority, for game development?

Personally, I think it's okay for a developer to take input from the community, but they shouldn't just do what they feel the community is asking for. They should make changes that match their style and vision for the game that will hopefully also address some of the more pressing wants/needs of the community. This game in particular I've been impressed at times with the unique/novel approach the devs took to adding a feature that didn't match anyone's expectation and yet worked delightfully well...although never perfectly, but usually after some tweeking in later updates works really well.
There will always be a vocal minority, both positive and negative with many different viewpoints that the developers can never hope to please by catering to their broad set of clashing expectations. As members of that community we need to remember that what we each think is only an opinion, a different view point and that nothing is black and white, there is not only one path or solution to a problem and that we need to keep an open mind to other ideas and respect those ideas even if we disagree with them. Ultimately though it's the developers opinion that matters most and we're all along for the ride on their hard work and so far the ride has exceeded my expectations in many areas and what I would have thought was possible.

About the hate for every update: Honestly this has increased a bit since 1.9, but it's mostly coming from people who have no proper reason to hate the update.
If somebody is complaining for lack of or demanding for example: more stair and slab blocks in MC, they don't play the game. And if what feature or change they want doesn't happen in a time zone of opportunity, one being right now -- as 1.12 is under development, they will stop playing MC.
Perhaps, like most of my issues mentioned here, this one is more about what other people say and me empathizing their actions negatively.

Also, I've felt that I can't make a difference in a broad scheme of the MC community. And sometimes, I only make problems worse by replying. I get repelled from the environments for what's projected as being bad.
