Hey, I know these threads pop up a lot, but I've got a couple of ideas for a new server I'm starting soon, and I wanted to gauge interest in the ideas. Both ideas are intended to be community driven, meaning I'll focus on features that promote interaction between players.
The first idea is Worldborder factions. There would be a very small worldborder, meaning limited resources and extreme competition. Compound this by adding factions to the mix, tacking territory onto the list of scarce resources, and you'd get some interesting power dynamics. Eventually, the entire world would be claimed, forcing new players to join a faction right off the bat if they want to play. They would have to work up through the ranks if they want power, instead of just striking out on their own like what happens a lot.
The other idea is a wasteland survival, but a bit different than others. I have a custom world generator prepared that removes trees and heavily modifies all biomes and removes some. The only wood that can be found is from dead bushes and mineshafts. Dirt is also rarer than diamond, making farming difficult. This will make new players more inclined to stick together where farms have already been established. This one will be more exploration and building driven than pvp oriented, with griefing (if not totally banned) heavily restricted.
Either way, let me know what you think and if you'd be interested in joining a server with either of these ideas
