Alright....I had heard that the makers of Thermal Expansion/Dynamics/Foundation separated their mod into the three for the very reason so that if someone wants to use lets say their ores or their piping and not use their machines, they can do so.
But I think when they did that, they didn't consider how to properly make their piping without their machines, or assumed someone would put in a mod that would help with that....like Ender io and such.
Where my problem is I was trying to create a way to get energy without the use of these machines. I was trying to create a modpack with Tinkers Construct, and Better Furnaces. I've always liked Better Furnaces, and now with some of their new ideas on furnace fuel, I liked it even more. I tried to make it where you can use solar to go directly to the furnace. But piping will still be required. So, I figured with Thermal Expansion's new way of separating out their mod parts, I can use their piping to do so. Unfortunately there's no way to do it. You can make the liquid parts, but it doesn't offer a way to make the empty casings without some machine mod involved. I even looked in the config to see if they gave an option for that, but non I can see.
It was actually disappointing, especially since Thermal Expansion purposely separated their mods, what I felt to be just for this kind of situation. They really need to put something into the config to give an option for easier or more basic crafting, incase someone wants to make a more basic modpack.
So, perhaps someone else knows a mod where I can get piping without all these machines? My next look will now be towards Buildcraft. But it's really a shame. I really like Thermal Dynamics piping and I was really hoping that would work.....
Unfortunately, I ran into another unexpected snaffu with the pack I made I didn't see coming. I didn't realize the energy storage upgrade for Better Furnaces was an upgrade from another mod. I thought when Better Furnaces got to 1.6.4, they added more cool features. Instead, there was a mod called BF compatibility that added on to make that happen, and after looking for it, I'm not sure if it ever upgraded to 1.7.10.
So, now I've run into two problems with my modpack idea.
I just thought it would be a cool idea to create a mod where you can make basic cool weapons, armor, and have a faster choice of energy without needing all those complicated machines to do so....just keeping it more simple. But it seems to have turned into a failure.
Wouldn't be the first time my idea with the game didn't happen. I'd still love to have a game where you start in the nether. With mods out there like Natura, you can actually live in the nether now, making it a very difficult starting pack, where your purpose would be to try and make it to the normal world. But they don't seem to make anything where you can do that, either.

So if I understand you correctly you just want to throw a mod that will help move items around and that's it correct?
Yeah, pretty much. In this case....energy.
