I don't know about you guys but one of my favorite things to do on servers was to enchant sticks/blaze rods with sword enchantments like sharpness, fire aspect, knockback, etc. and run around pvp areas beating people up with sticks. I've never played any of the minecraft 1.8 versions so I don't know when this change occurred, but at some point they removed the ability to enchant sticks/blaze rods. I think they should give us that ability back. Does anyone agree with me?
You should still be able to do this if you are in Creative or use commands; I am not aware of any changes to this since anvils were introduced. The following bug report indicates this is still the case:
MC-95555 Mabye bug with enchanting in creative ? The Wiki does suggest it was possible to use books to enchant anything in Survival in a snapshot for 1.4.6 (12w49a), but not an official release (it was fixed in the very next snapshot).

In minecraft 1.7.10 you could enchant sticks and blaze rods, but in minecraft 1.9 you can't. As I said I've never played any of the 1.8 versions of minecraft, so the change probably occurred somewhere between 1.8 through 1.8.9. All I'm saying is I really liked to enchant sticks/ blaze rods and I'm sad that they removed the ability to enchant them.

well yeah thats exactly what i mean. in 1.7.10 using books and an anvil you could enchant sticks/blaze rods. But now in 1.9 whether I'm in creative or survival mode it won't let me enchant sticks or blaze rods.
