Hello all! It's been a while since I've been anywhere near Minecraft - and I could talk for ages about my disappointment in it, but that's not what this thread is for. I'm here because I wish to host a server (Mostly in the hopes of providing fun for others while generating a little income.)
Back in my day, it was simple enough. Download bukkit, essentials, world edit, and some other stuff. Didn't take long if you knew what you were doing. But I find out that Bukkit is basically gone.
My question is, what is the standard these days? What do people use to hold their plugins? More importantly, what the plugins you're expected to have these days?
Spigot basically took over Bukkit after it was taken down long ago from a DMCA take down request. There is other alternatives out there though that support plugins but I believe Spigot is the most widely used now a days. Plus it supports almost all Bukkit plugins. Some already worked with Spigot while Bukkit was still going but a lot of the ones that didn't almost all got updated for Spigot. They also have their own plugins made by the community as well on Spigot. As for the plugins you're expected to have these days, it entirely is up to you but the things you mentioned earlier were what the majority of servers still use.
