I play on survival servers a lot, and I haven't seen anything like this. It isn't as big of a deal that you make it out to be.
It's more of a big deal on mini game servers and large multiplayer servers where arguments happen frequently. On a small survival server people generally don't get too mad unless their base gets griefed but they usually don't know who did it.
And the metadata could not be changed by an external program?
Also, the launcher also logs chat, so you could paste it into the chat (in singleplayer while making fake screenshot), and you could just play a match with the person and record the names of the other players, so all data matches the server's copy.
Also, couldn't you just take a legitimate screenshot (from Mineplex) and photoshop it? Like, with actual Photoshop?
Sure, but that requires more work than most people are willing to do. The fact of the matter is, only a statistical handful of people will be going through all this.

Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.

Actually, once you get it set up each subsequent false report only takes about 30 seconds.
Actually, it's not. PNG metadata is not like EXIF data and is more an extension to the file format. Minecraft doesn't save any metadata. (I checked with TweakPNG because I was going to present that as a point as well)

Guy I said exactly that. It would, however, require the use of mods to output, as most places use rather colourful text that won't come across via a copy paste, which would only be white... and if you paste it into chat each line will be clearly shown to originate from your player. Mods would be required.
The Chat log is not included to verify they were on the server in my example. It is used to create a concrete reference point because the chat log gives a concrete timebase for further analysis.

Well yes, with a terrible, crappy corroboration scheme as seems to be in place where mods go "image show player do bad thing? me ban, me ban now!".
Photoshopped images require effort to make particularly convincing and as I said before the data on the server would not match up because you would be photoshopping players or events that never happened.

You would be photoshopping a real image from the server. The only difference in the photoshopped screenshot would be that the other player's position would be changed. All the other variables would match up (because everything else is original and taken from the actual map). The other players would all be online at the time, and chat would be identical. The only way that the server could know something was off would be to compare the recorded XYZ coordinates of the players at the time. If this were the case, players would not need to be banned based on the decision of the admin of a screenshot, but rather players would report someone for cheating and the records could tell definitely whether they were cheating at a certain time (based on the XYZ coords).
I really think we should blame server hosts.. Because first of all, you shouldn't just recklessly ban someone if you don't have enough evidences such as seeing them doing it.. or just plain out video reports.. its pretty funny how big servers foolishly do that ..
SO my point is.
Server host should atleast go on and check their servers atleast twice a week.. to see if there are some issues or if the reports are actually true..
I am moderator on a relatively small server (relative to the mega server like mineplex and hypixel) and have not encountered this issue yet, but I am sure it has been abused a lot of the large servers were moderators and admins simply don't have time to look deeply into each report. There isn't a fix that I can think of apart from having staff members be more careful. Thank you for this post
That's how I see it. My Server is Babam&Friends (On the Server List!) and I only ban people for Griefing, or Being Inappropriate. Only those 2. I WILL sometimes un-ban them, but that's only if they SWEAR not to do anything more.
The funny thing is that you made the video over 1 year ago and now you are against it? Why not sooner? and after reading the comments i see that you are saying that you have already reported over 20 people.
That's the thing as he said on a different website not too long ago,"Decided to post my false report tutorial on the official minecraft forums under the disguise of warning server owners about people who do this. So far one guy is calling me out on my bull crap but everyone else is falling for it."

This takes less time and skill than photoshop.
Did I say otherwise in my post?
(spoiler: no)
Sorry, wrong post got quoted for some reason.

Yep, this video is super useful and I hope that others may think as well.

hi
False reporting is sad, anyone who does this should be banned.
That's how I see it. My Server is Babam&Friends (On the Server List!) and I only ban people for Griefing, or Being Inappropriate. Only those 2. I WILL sometimes un-ban them, but that's only if they SWEAR not to do anything more.
Very true! My friend got banned from hypixel because someone said he advertised, but in reality it was nobody! I hate people like that!

Dude, thank you for showing us this. Now I know why my brother got banned for no reason on mineplex...
