It's rare in the sense that Minecraft is old, and more 'friendly', that being not a random mix of letters and numbers like xXdr4g0nl0rdXx. Usernames that flow nicely like 231 are hard to come by and yes, hard to grab after such a long time of Minecraft being around. I wanted to change my Minecraft name, but after having mine for 3 and a half years, I'm going to keep it. My username is unique to me, and it has sentimental value now. And no, nobody can know what it is. You'd have to VSMP with me.

Seriously though, in my opinion the rarity of a name depends on the creativity of it, not how obvious it is. For instance, there are approximately 21568 "awesomeminecrafter"s out there. Furthermore, there are less than 999 people with 3-number names.

I could say "oh .... is so rare because only one person can be named that!"
or "... is so rare because there are only ... possibilities for this name"
or "... is so rare because it has very few letters"
Everybody! Technically it's rare. Technically it's not rare. Why is it not rare? Because you don't have to search for 30 million hours. It is rare because anybody can type in a random number sequence. You got lucky. Oh and by the way I know somebody whose name is DeezNuts.
